Are Monks the new Hunters?

Not a QQ thread. But I was thinking..

Speed/Mobility= Check

High DPS= Check

Tons of Immobilizing effects= Check

Aoe Damage= Woah, that's new.

Now They are very killable, so I don't have too much of a problem fighting them (no kiting issues). They just got dat consistency and overwhelming Barrage of attacks, and slows.

Forgive me I don't really know much of their specs yet.

I want to roll one, but I'm not sure seeing how powerful they are atm. Still a nice addition to the f2p Bracket :p

Thoughts, experience with them so far?

I've already seen one with full bis pre-boa build (with lfh) minus agm.

Hunters were special snowflakes in that they could be doing their full extent of damage and burst from 40 yards away. Any melee, like bm monks and ferals, may be strong and hit ridiculously hard, but they need to be in melee range. That's the catch right there. If you can put some distance between yourself and the monk/feral, you have some real options. Whereas with hunters you were screwed, distance be darned. So i'd prefer an op melee to an op ranged.

Ret is op, but they can be kited. Rets aren't hard to figure out how to take out, given you have the dps and timed interrupts/stuns

Would I say Monks are hella strong right now? Yes. More so than ever before.

Would I say they are the new hunters? nope.

Ferals and Rets took that spot.


EDIT: Ferals didn't need the cheap shot to be OP right now. It put them over the edge. I don't blame anyone who plays ret. Anyone who geared up a Ret set has played them during the time they were garbage. So I tip my hat off to them. Please enjoy it while it lasts. Endgame-Ret is OP so enjoy it before it gets nerfed. Regarding Monks dmg, they are strong and will only get stronger. F2Ps don't have BoAs seeing how they were released a week ago. WW is being buffed so RIP when DMF starts.

As for me, I'm gonna play MW since not enough MW op threads :)

I don't think anything will ever come close to cata/MoP hunters. People will eventually forget what they were really like, and think something is else is better. But they will be wrong. Hunters were Lord Sovereign of the Gods mode. Never forget.
