Aeria peak as been known in the free to play bracket as the biggest level 20 hub's in all of the wow servers, we've been known for being true patriots in the battlegrounds expect goldendays but there ya go. but anyway. but last week I was on my warrior lokah(horde) and when i entered a warsong gulch a hunter and a mage both were telling me are u going to bot this match, like your other ap friends. it got me thinking. and just this morning i was on my mage (alliance) and when i entered a wsg game a person told me if i was going to bot too. is botting becoming a issue for many of us fellow apèrs. /sigh

But seriously I've never heard of this in any battlegrounds... even in the battlegrounds where the ACTUAL bot is present. Either you were being trolled then (by those specific toons that mentioned it), or you are trolling now. If this is "legit" for ppl in general don't feed in the in-game trolls by even acknowledging.

Well before any of this botting stuff started coming up, I remember being in a WSG where there were 2 people who were spouting off the entire game stuff like "Oh an AP premade, you're going to GY camp the whole game" and when I told them that no, we were specifically against that, they were like "oh you lie I watched you GY camp" etc etc. It became clear that they were trying to troll us. I can't think of any reason other than some misguided jealousy.

If people in our bracket have taken enough notice of us that we have earned a hater here or there, then we're probably doing something right. The only way I can see it becoming a problem is if other, actual innocent people, start believing the lies. And that's what keeps me concerned, and why I always try to handle such situations with calm, but firm, reiteration of our true nature.

And that's what I would have to recommend to anyone who encounters someone saying things that aren't true. You just have to objectively reply and don't let them flame-bait you. A simple "No, that isn't the case, we are actually against GY camping" or "We have heard that there is one botter who happens to be from our server but we aren't related and we don't bot". Times like this are when your classiness will be tested, and will be under the microscope, and we can all do our community a good service by keeping it cool and just stating the facts without histrionics. I would appreciate that from everyone.

if you see me, "expect" greatness.

Theres a guy called Tyguy on AP horde side who is either botting, or just somehow manages to WSG all day every day and not respond to direct conversation in chat.

yea, he is truly annoying: a BElf-Rogue with white gear all over, who has 600 hp and doesnt stealth. i reported him yesterday, after i /w him several times to ask, what he is doing - i got no answer of course.

and if you ask me, there should be an option to ban everyone from f2p-chat, who is botting in any way. i dont want to play "with" ppl like that.

There soon will be. I haven't spent a considerable amount of time putting together an addon, in order to support a community that tolerates either botters or GY farmers.

It's one thing to accept any players who may join us, it's a different thing altogether when some of them are actually driving people away from the community we're trying to build, and giving that community a bad reputation.

I'm completely certain f2p "twinks" from other servers despise half the AP community that regularly does BGs. Because all the AP doing premades don't mix with other realms very often and if you aren't in the premade you're usually not in it due to your behavior in game. Bawlollin is an exception to the rule. Some of the shit that comes out of his mouth in BG chat..

i do a lot of pugs - not because of my behaviour. and i am sure many other AP-ppl do as well.

Judging from your signature and the fact that you level in battlegrounds, you've only done ~30 BGs at level 20. That hardly counts over a 3 month period of AP premades.

Ehm...he plays on Blackrock EU, too. Of course he also plays in XP-On BG's, it's a German thing (and I don't mean that in a negative way in any way or form).

This! I try to remember this when I see these kind of AP players. Now I don't think that most people despise AP players, because most players don't even check the scoreboard for information other than KBs/dmg done. But there are a few people who keep an eye on who people are and where they are from. When I see someone that is doing something grating, I do check their name and where they are from (more often than not, they are from AP). The things I find most annoying are the people who call other people bad or the people who go solo to get the flag and then yell at the team when they die on the field and the opposing team is standing between us and them. For a while, it was to the point where I was happier to see anything good (24s, bajillion hunters, premade, healers) on the opposing team than to see AP on my team.

i used to f2p on AP, and loved yasueh's mods. but, after a certain amount of AP drama, i realized that a couple people were ruining the experience for me, so i rolled new toons elsewhere.

i pug BGs from other servers and can tell you about my perspective. while i normally look at everyone's health, i look specifically at the gear on AP toons. most players pugging from random realms have 1000+ health with a mix of blues and greens. AP toons are either rockstars or the absolute worst. when you get AP toons with less than 500 health, dressed in whites, with thousands of HKs, they tend to make the entire realm look bad. people dont remember the AP toon who went 12/3 with a carry and a recovery when there was another AP toon who went 2/40, wearing whites and rushing mid.

while there might be room for individual recognition in BGs, AP has a reputation for erratic behavior. the admins at this site can tell you that the forum gets thousands of reads from unregistered guests every week. there are alot of random f2p players who read here without posting or rolling on AP. when they are getting gy farmed, the only thing they will remember is that there was an AP toon with top kills. they won't realize that it is just one asshat who wants looms on his 3rd toon. instead they will think that all AP players are twinkinfo hypocrites. when they see a bad AP bot, they start looking more critically at other AP toons. even decent bots are obvious when you watch with suspicion. then they assume that all AP players are twinkinfo bot cheaters. if the team is 3/4 bads and there is 1 bot, the loss will be blamed on the bot if they are from AP.

in every other pvp bracket, the best players are recognized by their guilds, without guilds in f2p, there is no way to enforce a set of behaviors that are important to the community. there is no way to recognize the players with a shared set of standards. instead, AP's realm success is attracting jerkoffs who are looking for the easiest routes to roflstomping.

cotus feels he has something to prove. kahr thinks that his $15/month makes him special. graveyard farming and botting are like cancer. they are ruthless and efficient. because the community hasn't found a way to stop them, the bad behavior spreads. when randoms engage in these activities, they hurt the community. when players from AP pull this crap, they hurt the community and make TI look like a joke.

^^ I love this post.

F2P is a new beast. I'm making toons elsewhere too. With guilds these problems could easily be controlled with a guild name rather than a server name to point fingers too. You can remove ppl, enforce rules, etc etc...

The problem with rolling elsewhere is, pugging (horde side) is SO brutal. I just cant go back after premading, even to my LFH/AGM twinks on low pop server that I made before discovering the AP community.

The vast majority of us on AP do not support botting in anyway. People tend to categorize us as "botters and "GY farmers". They do this because they saw someone on our server bot and then somehow think everyone bots. It's a common misconception that AP players bot and GY farm. If someone blames you for doing either, when you haven't, you can employ a coupe of tactics.
  1. Respond with a simple "I do bot, and most of us on AP do not support botting."
  2. Ignore them.

I suggest doing the first as acting in a respectable manner will help better our communities name, which is tarnished by only a few. Try to separate yourself from the negative stereotypes and create new positive ones.

I hope those who bot and GY farm realize while you may get away with it, it ruins the experience for everyone else. That might not matter so much to you, however realize you're not going to be making many friends if you keep on doing so.

It's also a common misconception that anyone from Aerie Peak in this bracket, is part of our community. I think that's the toughest hurdle to overcome. We're in the A's alphabetically, and there are lots and lots of people on Aerie Peak that we have NO connection to whatsoever. Never heard of us, never heard of TwinkInfo. Our community becomes de facto responsible for their actions too, in the eyes of others. That's not only unfair, but it's also unfixable. I would go out on a limb to say that any time someone has seen a player from Aerie Peak graveyard farming, there is a very high likelihood that we have never heard of them. And that's why again, I offer anyone to send me a PM if somebody from Aerie Peak loused up your game. I'll give you the straight skinny on whether or not that person is one of ours.
