Accessing US realm from EU?

Hi everyone,

I'm new here :)

A friend referred me to this forum as we wanted to play some f2p wow pvp and it seems to be quite a nice place with a lot of nice guides etc.

Now to the actual question: Is it possible to access AP US with a EU based battle.net account? I have a WOW EU Starter Edition account but it just won't let me add a US account to my bnet account. I tried all the stuff suggested in this thread: http://www.twinkinfo.com/f43/free-play-20-twinking-you-20584/ but it just didn't seem to work for me. Did Blizzard disable this "option" or did I do something wrong?

Also if it's not possible (or ping is too bad for my taste) what's like the best EU server with the most active lvl20 (and least lvl 21-24 :)) f2p pvp players? I'd love to play on a server where it's fast to find games for BG's and where people actually play the objective and not just camp the graveyard.

Cant help ya on the 2nd issue, due to cross realm que's
And, blame the huntards/(mop pally's with 1.4K shock ctris atm)

True but I think it would be more convenient to have the accounts tied to the same b.net account so there are no problems if I ever decide to subscribe to WOW again. So if anyone knows what I did wrong or if it's not possible anymore I would greatly appreciate the help.

Also still looking for server recommendations in EU.

There used to be a sticky for this, try looking in the FAQ stickied at the top of the page.

I don't know about going to US servers from EU servers but I can help you with your second question.

For Alliance, make a character on Twisting Nether. We've got a pretty good amount of Alliance f2p's there. Just yesterday we played some 5vs5 arenas!

For Horde, make a character on Aggramar. We've got a good amount of Horde f2p's there. We also play arenas and premade on that server!

Both servers are great. I guess it just depends on which faction you wanna play. Have fun and hope to see you soon!

Its possible to play on us servers from eu, that's part of why ap was chosen in the first place (location, for lower eu ping)

Ok cool I will look into that :)

Ye I think I looked into that sticky. I mentioned it in the OP. But the method described in there didn't work for me :( Any clues as why it didn't work? If I select 'Region: Americas English (US)' there is no highlighted box under the accounts panel with the new region (in my case it would be Americas) in it as in this screenshot provided in the mentioned thread: http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6810/13082172.jpg

I just see my EU starter edition account and a test realm account.

The method in this post (http://www.twinkinfo.com/f43/free-play-20-twinking-you-20584/#post276368) also didn't work for me :(

It works for people that I talk to and play with on a daily basis, 100% sure. But I don't know why it doesn't work for you.

If you can't add a US starter account when logged into battle.net, just create a US account, download a US client (no need to change the realmlist, less trouble with patching, too) and then merge the accounts.

OK I will try that I suppose.

I have a copy of the realmlist.wtf that i just exchange when i want to get on US servers.

Looking like this for US:
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal us

And this for EU:
set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enGB.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal eu

And ofcourse a US starter edition added to my battle.net account.
