Seeing how shit-posts are going to be a continuance from now on, I encourage people to do something to smokescreen it.
This applies to those who bring up healthy discussion regarding the game, since the trolls and/or rebels (who I would assume they know what they stir up) are not changing any routes.
**Note: it is reccomended to read this in Morgan Freeman's voice. (Or a chipmunk if you hate me)
Scenario 1: You log onto TI to check up on discussion within your bracket and you see some heated discussion.
Solution: Avoid commenting! Disassociate yourself from it if the thread's intent is to entice others. Even if it's outraging! If someone has posted a valiant reply in attempt to shut the troll up and/or make him rethink his/her/it's actions, the best you can do is to leave a like. No need to join in on the fight, because in doing so, you are giving the troll attention, bumping the thread, and burying the threads that matter! I have been guilty of this, but I (for the longest time) have simply laughed and ignored it. I can tell you that the report section has been severely neglected in terms of staff attentiveness since the leniency policy has been put into effect (for better or worse). But it never hurts to put the report feature to use, in case a staff member happens to be looking through reports. This is a community effort in order for this to work! It is a hard thing to do, but it is the best current fix to this ongoing struggle!
Instead of fighting back directly, try to think of something productive to bring up (by creating a new thread or replying to an existing thread). This MUST be done if you are willing to use this site! And enough to impact what we see on the Portal page! I know lurking is an outcome from the unwillingness to interact with a labeled community, but we want you to be a part of it, not just watch.
Scenario 2: You notice one of these delightful people are shit-posting a pre-existent thread of healthy discussion.
Solution: Same rules apply, do not reply or get them riled up. Make them starve from the lack of prey. Make them go "fuck it, these people aren't worth my time" if they are seeking conflict. It hits harder when they write up an elaborate insult and/or trolling response. Again, "like" a justified response to idiocracy if a considerable one exists, and/or report the trouble-maker. It is best to continue on with the original topic, even if you really want to tell the person to stay on discussion.
Scenario 3: An @thread or response is directed towards you or a friend of yours, with either childish jabs, or an elaborate accusation.
If it is a jab (insult) with no forms of privacy-exploitation, don't associate. If you do, simply give a harmless/sarcastic nod and move on. If privacy IS exploited, report it immediately, and see if any staff are online to deal with the situation. If not, go under their public profile and see if they have any available contacts you can reach them with. Replying to the thread will only keep it in the eyes of others.
If it is an elaborate accusation that you KNOW is wrong or blown out of proportion, but is fairly convincing and possibly leads to an ill-informed ban, reply to the topic (not the person; avoid "you"s). Leave a mature, sensible, and logical defense. Tag a staff member if you wish for your statement to be acknowledged. Then leave the discussion until questioned by only a staff member. Again, I am guilty of retaliating directly, but I would advise not to.
Scenario 4: Private messaging.
There isn't a whole lot to cover with this one. Since clashing with someone through PMs are not public (hence the word "private"), it is entirely up to you on how you can deal with it. If someone attacks you in public and/or private and you cannot resist the urge to defend yourself, make it private/keep it private.
If you recieve a message that entices and you do not care to participate in it, simply ignore it. If it is an unnerving or explicit photograph/video, report it. Threats as well.
Scenario 5: Gameplay preference, and mis-information.
Solution: If someone plays a class you despise, pre-mades with those particular classes, GY farms, or anything in-game related that does not involve exploiting, do your best to give them a thoughtful reason as to why you do or do not prefer these things. These are not things we can fix technically, but through positive influence. This is the one thing I do not mind people bringing up if it is actually effecting the bracket's pvp experience on a large scale. But if someone proves to have an un-wavering preference, politely acknowledge them and "agree to disagree". And move on. We do not want to shun people for their in-game preference. To each his own.
Now let's say someone misunderstands something, or spreads misinformation, do your best to explain to them the facts, without being overly assertive. This is Twink"info", so it should be up to us to make sure they see the facts of twinking, and not the fact the site is filled with hostile jerks. If they arrogantly stand on their original information, kindly let them know you tried to show them (or leave entirely).

<<<The biggest thing to adjust (mentally) is your toughness. Learn to shake it off! These assholes do not know you, and do not let them get the best of you! I am saddened that so many former members of the site have significantly weakened their ties from a community with so much potential! Some have even went through personal sadness in result of blind judgement!>>>
Legion is neigh! Let us build a welcoming bridge for a new wave of users, and not leave a bad example..!
Feel free to let me know if there is anything to add! Thanks!
