EU+US 70 twinks - get farming before 8.1.5 hits

From discussions on my guide thread (in sig), wowhead's ptr version, and the 50-59 forums, 8.1.5 will bump the ilvl of rare and epic items that scale to your level by default. This means dungeon rewards are now great for you.

For 79s, gearing won't change all that much, I expect. However 70s now have dungeon heroic gear dropping with ilvl 91 (normals will be 85). Kael'thas in MGT will be dropping his epics with ilvl 93, even. This is comparable to SWP gear, and means you can (and probably should) opt for the dungeon set pieces, and any other juicy dungeon gear you want. In particular, some dungeon trinkets will be worth taking a look at.

The bumped ilvl gear should apply if you obtained the item after 7.3.5, or of course if you obtain it after 8.1.5 hits. Do note that this is after all ptr, and things can change, but considering what a pain farming heroic dungeons can be with bad droprates, and one run per day, you may want to get a headstart.

edit: Apart from TBC heroics, take a look at what you may want from the epic-dropping normal WotLK dungeons - namely ToC, PoS, HoR, FoS. Though apart from ToC, these tend to have very poorly itemised gear. All of them will be dropping ilvl 91 epics.

On current patch ive noticed heroic gear is higher ilvl, but has slightly less stats than its normal counterpart. Not sure if this bump will change anything, but you may be better off with normal versions believe it or not

The ptr has bumped heroic ilvls by 14 and increased there stats far more than the normal versions. So while this may be true on live, in the next patch it seems heroic is better than normal as it should be and may even be competitive or bis for some classes and specs.

many of my old twinks, which i have not touched for a long time, are before 7.3.5, will the gears already on them be bumped up too ? some of these old gears have higher ilvl than what was gotten after legion, like some of the older dungeon drops for lvl69, they are all over ilvl90+ if i remember correctly, much higher than what was dropped during legion time for the exact same item

You’re literally quoting the answer to your question . Items obtained prior to 7.3.5 will be unchanged. Items obtained after will get extra ilvls.
