It is far from on par with other DPS classes, but on par with hunters.

Just wasn't aware that people actually like, LOOKED for people to premade pug bgs with.

More than viable if you know what you're doing - like any class/spec in the bracket. Played some ret/rogue 2s with 0 resi gear and 0 exp as ret yet we beat a few double mage 2.1k teams.. ^^

.... Anything is viable if you aren't a mongoloid in any bracket. And I said nothing about them not being viable.
2.1 means nothing at 70, they were clearly awful but okie
