49 Ret twink: Advice needed

Okay i have a 49 Ret twink right now, and i'm looking for advice on improving his all round damage, and not have to rely on stuns and judges to much. names Ævatar, armory me. I will gladly accept criticism and help from anybody. [char=Saurfang]%C3%86vatar[/char]

I would include a link to your armory, I don't know your ASCII code.

As for damage, I rarely HoJ or Repentence as my opening move unless I really need my opponent to hold still. After that I'll wait for about 2 seconds to be left on my Judgement cooldown then I'll HoJ and immediately judge, usually for the killing blow.

Gearwise it's safe to say you have quite a bit to work on, check this profile out, should give you some ideas I'm sure. ;p

Keep in mind that the linked profile contains none of the bind on account gear, and fire opal necklace/dark iron ring can be substituted by Woven Ivy Necklace and Aquamarine Signet of whatever aspect you may prefer.

Happy hunting!

Well I myself don't have a 49 ret, So I really don't know what the best in slot gear is, But i would say the issue is; your weapon, and your lack of agility/crit rating.

Ways your could get more agility are by getting

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17767 for your head,

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13071 For your gloves,

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17739 For your cape,

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=20205 for your belt,

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34422 For your feet, if you have enough exp. Get surefooted enchant. Getting the AB boots is a waste because you (should be?) are specced for pursuit of justice.

Get an aquamarine signet of the tiger, switch the the WSG ring for your other ring, Get a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45631 for your other trinket slot for when your pvp is on CD.

Get a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2291 Until you can find a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13018 or http://www.wowhead.com/?item=42943

Enchant the kang and cleaver with 70 ap, enchant the BAR with crusader.

Change your spec, I can't say much for specs but i'de guess.... http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#sZZxfMtrcbGdcb:0MZz Would be ideal.

Spec

Thanks for the advice and everything guys. I do have a little problem with the gear side of things though. I don't know anybody willing to run me through Mara or any instance, and lack the funds to do so as of yesterday.

Sorry for the lack of replies too, I've had a VERY long 2 days of work.

For gloves, the Vice Grips of the Bear that you have now is awesome. Best in slot imo.

Those quest reward boots are the best, but if you're like me and don't have the xp room the AB boots are almost as good. 11 strength, 10 agility, 7 stamina and 6 intellect is nothing to scoff at.

You're more likely to find an [item]Executioner's Cleaver[/item] before a Kang, and it'll be cheaper anyways. Cleaver is the best. More damage per swing, which helps a whole lot with those first two white hits in your burst phase, +10 hit rating, and the +23 strength helps with your spell damage as a paladin.

I know instance runs aren't readily available, but you'd be surprised how much you can acquire by steadily bitching at the higher levels in your guild. 1 or 2 runs a day and you'll be able to get [item]Blackstone Ring[/item] pretty soon. [item]Elemental Rockridge Leggings[/item] drops from the same boss so if you can get periodic mara runs your twink will be in much better shape in no time.

Until you get bloomsprout, [item]Sunscale Helmet[/item] is your best in slot for head. Spirit got a nerf and you should be using at least 1 point of Judgments of the Wise for your mana anyway, so [item]Mugthol's Helm[/item] isn't so good anymore unless you're going for pure stamina.

For talent specs, I like this one: 0/0/20.

That's all I can think of for now. 49 rets are kind of cookie cutter these days, but mastering them brings rewards above and beyond the usual find target, right click, ???, profit techniques. I'm still working on damage control :p it's very doable in this bracket.

I have a hard time believing vice grips of the bear to be best in slot. For the following reasons:

Firstly, attack power and strength very minimaly effect judgement damage. Where as agility effects white attacks and judgements equally as judgement of justice runs on melee crit chance.

Secondly, attack power doesn't get amplified by blessing of kings. They would be a contender for best in slot if they were 7 strength, instead of 14 attack power. but they're not, so they aren't. Also hits crit chance is 12 percent. he needs the agility.
