19 Prot Warriors?

Hello TwinkInfo! New to the site so I thought I'd start out with a topic that seems to be on every 19 warrior's lips: Is Prot viable?



It's no great surprise that Fury is the preffered spec of a lot of warriors now, due to the lack of snares, yet i'm left wondering where that leaves warriors like myself, who have taken on the role of Prot in order to help some friends gear up in randoms.



Please give me your thoughts as, right at the moment, i'm struggling to find a way in which Prot will work for me when a BG finally pops. :(



Also: Is Shadowfang still obtainable as of 4.0.3?
 
The short of it...........no. The absense of PH in pvp makes warriors essentially unplayable when you consider that each other melee class now has access to a snare.



Just pay the gold to respec when your helping with runs. Or have your friends pay it. ;)



Not sure about shadowfang.
 
A GM said that the shadowfang still drops.



Prot warriors are seldom seen, but are quite viable, depending on how it's used. They have good stam and can pop AoE bleeds and purge with shield, and heroic crits can trigger a second heroic crit next hit, which also works with 2h for decent burst of its own.

However, the lack of hamstring (or piercing howl) means that you still have to run towards the enemy, while they can easily kite you down, so prot warriors are dependent on other snaring teammates.
 
Damn it, I play with a priest. Back to Fury it is, and if they don't like the queues sod em! Ta for the info :)
 
tank as fury! if your geared should be pie!

tried prot its alright combat wise but you will get kited by everyone under the sun :'(

Yeah, that and the fact that hamstring is now level 26 has me seriously considering moving my 19 up a couple brackets.
 
i too debated it Foch but no point ruining a possibly bis warrior. Just re-roll; getting past 19 nowadays is a breeze with the new spells ^^.

Or try end game! Suprisingly refreshing imo :)

Just loaded up cata yesterday afternoon. Main hit 84 a couple hours ago. Should be ready for pvp this weekend. End game does look to be much improved.



Still on the fence about where to take my 19. I'll probably just shelf him with my 10 and start messing with something else. I've been thinking about a mage or maybe a janky level 15 project.
 
I went prot on my warrior for a little bit, wasn't that great. The only real fun I got from prot was popping my AGM in duels and then dispeling my friends AGM with shield slam.
 
There's no doubt about one thing - Blood & Thunder talent in prot is godlike while tanking

did that on my twink to get sachel loot and ya it was fun!



Also, prot warriors have some really cool ablilites and bonuses and I would really like to play one. I would say its viable but its certainly not making anything easy on yourself. The BEST spec is fury, but if you've got enough stam prot could be really fun!
 
Went prot with the WBFH and it was AMAZING. the extra stam helped me stack some ap via the 10 str belt along with some enchants and still have 2k hp unbuffed. One issue was time on target; but i tried hugging a fury warrior on my team and it dessimated rows of melee and casters.

One moment i was proud of was getting an ele shaman low through vengeance granting 70+ ap and some lucky crits; forcing him to thunderfuck me and agm. Shadowmeld charge, shield slam and a heroic strike BOOM. Chomped

Then the shaman decided to show me how lucky i was by kiting for 4 minutes when he rezzed :(

That's something new to learn today. I never thought of using shadowmeld for charge. Someone choke me now.

Nice. I've had a few moments like that with some of the alternate warrior builds, but, more often than not it's more like the last sentence you posted. :(



nelf is still top dawg for warriors. smeld really rocks for so many reasons. Gnome has been doing well when I play the running for cover game and make sure I have lots of corners to los people with. Belf is pretty cool too. The 15 rage from AT is quite nice.....along with that aoe silence. Pretty much the only races I can get to work decent enough to play at 19. Still wouldn't do protection or arms unless I'm in a premade and I know I've got the support to let me do my thing.
 
for me prot is amazing, now i know warrior FCs arent the best but i make due
 
i am in my prot gear, wowarmory is just being really slow atm idky, but if u want to come to moonguard im chilling in the middle of org
