19 frost mage talents?

I'm well aware that 3/3 frostbite and 3/3 ice flows are essential, but what should I do with the other 4 talent points?

Eh just looking for opinions. The role of Berrypastry is cc (and not much else). Gear-wise I haven't put a whole lot of effort into her but I want to at least get her talents right. I might be doing premades with her soon so I want to be ready :)

I run 3/3 frostbite, 3/3 Permafrost and 4/5 Improved Frostbolt

Some would argue that 5/5 frost bolt is needed, but im happy with 4/5

I wouldn't say ice flows is that important for 19.

It is for 80 mage pvp though,

I'd go with-

5/5 frostbolt

2/3 frostbite

3/3 permafrost

3/3 Frostbite is essential, nothing is better than rooting EFC or that pesky Rogue from 30 yards.

Now you have two options. You can either go 5/5 Imp Frostbolt and 2/3 Permafrost, or 4/5 Imp Frostbolt and 3/3 Permafrost. 5/5 Imp Frostbolt along with +10 Haste to Gloves makes your Rank 1 Frostbolt a tiny 0.95 seconds. Sure, this is under the GCD by quite a bit, but Frostbolts that fast are amazing.

You're highly recommended to get at least 2/3 in Permafrost because it means you can attend to CCing other people for 2 or 3 seconds. With an extra 3 seconds, you can apply Frostbolt to TWO more people in that period of time.

Ice Floes however, is not very useful. The only spell it affects at 19 is Frost Nova. It decreses the CD from 24 seconds to 20 seconds.

tl;dr: Your main role as CC is to CC as many people, for as long as possible. The ability to Nova an extra 4 seconds earlier just isnt as useful as getting off TWO more Frostbolts than if you didn't take Permafrost.

Take 3 Frostbite, 4-5 Imp Frostbolt and 2-3 Permafrost.

my current talent build IS 3/3 frostbite 3/3 permafrost and 4/5 imp fb lmao my only complaint is that frost nova comes off cd too slowly :(

rolling with only one friend to fc man i can tell you the allys start to hate me lol all that cc gets to them. polymorph, frostbolt, frost nova... over and over and over. by then end of the match i'm getting targeted by everyone, which only makes my cc more devastating roflmao

All the below opinions are based on a 10v10 scenario with a Mage on D.

Personally I use 5/5 Imp. Frostbolt, 3/3 Permafrost, and 2/3 Frostbite.

In a premade situation I personally want the fastest Frostbolts possible. The faster I slow someone meleeing my FC, the less damage he takes. Frostbite is a proc and as such is nothing you want to rely on. It's a nice bonus, but it's biggest benefit is that it procs from Frost Armor, and in a 10v10 anyone meleeing a Mage is doing it wrong in my opinion (maybe a Shaman but that's another topic).

Another thing to consider is that Frosbite adds it's own debuff to the affected player, so for a Priest to dispel his teammate back to normal movement, it takes two dispels instead of one (as well as another GCD). If the Priest is otherwise indisposed (CC'd) than simply chilling/frostbolting the target has removed them from melee range of the FC, making the Frostbite effect somewhat redundant.

And if we're talking pug spec....who knows? I'd still spec the same way, but Frostbite becomes a lot more useful in a pug where dispels are unheard of.
