Personally I think 18sp is better in almost every situation with the exception of affliction warlock. And regarding coastal surge, in my experience, the HoT is usually wasted healing. On average it overhealed 60-70% of its healing for me. I’d only advocate its use for FCing, or as an offhand...

Honestly roll whatever faction you prefer but if you enjoy it, definitely make a toon on the opposing side. There are plenty of people willing to help you out. Play what you like; pretty much anything can be good if you’re competent.

Welcome back dude! If you have a Midnight Mace I’d recommend it for your offhand. The shadow resist is actually really good. Since you have AGM I believe going to get one more arena trinket will unlock the BoA trinket for you. Aim for 3k health at minimum and as much vers/haste as you can...

Shadow priest is an excellent choice for 39s right now in BGs and arena. Also fairly easy to gear. Basically keep an eye out for ilvl 44 green aurora gear on AH. There are some acceptable quest drop alternatives for cloak and bracers. Helm will be green lens of the aurora.

The shadow resist on midnight mace is significant. We don’t have an exact number from testing but you will resist a fair number of shadow spells
