XPOff

Nah this current culture is full of hermits with pronouns and nothing like it used to be... however there are ppl who would love to chat with you, it's just the "community" doesn't function like it used to. Very close-knit cliques. If you hop in the voice channel, you'll never know who will pop by and say hi!

Imagine not having a mic in 2025. It never fails to amuse me when people get in discord, but refuse to speak.

you can extend that logic to saying, well: "why doesn't anybody want to do video call with cam on" or heck, everyone's favourite: "lets meetup irl guys!" like... now, there's something that you're suddenly not comfortable with that other people easily are. do you get how the general answer to this is pretty self-explanatory, if you look into yourself?

I'm very shy but have been on voice, cam and even met some people irl too over my 10ish years playing this bracket c:

I think people that used to play 20s were wonderful... it felt like an actual community. Now, idk... :(

We had a bunch of people for a while who hung out in the xopff voice channels. Nobody I recognized but it was pretty consistent there for a bit.

I don’t get that either, but js, mics are extremely inexpensive - most headphones come with it. I never understood or will ever understand why ppl are afraid to speak. Pretty sure you talk on your phone. How is it any different? No one cares what you sound like.

I’m shy too, but idgaf what anyone thinks.

I get your point, but it feels more emotional than logical. Comparing XPOff to your old 20s group is like comparing a public library to school friends—you can’t expect the same vibe. People come and go, and XPOff isn’t just 20s. You overcame shyness, which I respect, but that shows others could too, so the reasoning doesn’t fully hold.

It has always been that way though and makes no sense to me. Are there people out there who actually hate their voices that much? Get over it. Js. No one cares.

I think many players are shy or don't want to bother with this. Also, keep in mind that some of them don't talk English properly
twoshotmiyagi
No, but my friends from 10 years ago can speak English and can bother with talking on the mic, therefore... The rest of XPOff should too! I don't mean to make a personal attack; it's just I like to call out disingenous claims (intentional or not) when it's appropriate of me to do so. It would be more apt to have drawn a comparison between a tight-knit group of people to, well, another tight-knit group of people.

And honestly? Wasn't the golden era of 20s/F2Ps characterized by one such addon known as: "F2PAddon" (or w/e it was called). Like, you know, the text-based chat assist that enabled F2Ps to engage better amongst each other, until shitty hubs like Discord servers ruined it all? Just some food for thought.
