39 Ele Shaman and haste

I've been working on some chardevs for a 39 Elemental Shaman, but I've never played a Shaman before so it's all in theory right now. I'm trying to figure out the significance of haste for an elemental shaman. Outside of shocks, shears, and totems, all their spells have cast times, and specifically Ghost Wolf and Lightning Bolt don't go below 2 second cast times unless you have haste. Here's a chardev I made that tried to get haste whenever I could without sacrificing too many stats:

The hp is actually 3088 as the +150hp chant doesn't show up in chardev. The BoA chest would probably be better, but I passed it up for Warpwood as I'm grinding honor for BoAs and it's going to take forever to get them all, so I'm just getting the BoA mace for now. That only brings me to 5.54 haste though, which seems pretty low. I'm wondering if it's even worth it, or if I should just ignore haste and go for more spellpower or crit. I guess it's just the fact that slow Ghost Wolf casts makes me sad. I also didn't put any professions in as I didn't know what I wanted to take. I'm thinking engineering as shamans don't get any stuns, so bombs should be good. I guess herb too for lifebloom.



Ignoring haste, I came up with this:

I end up with 3178 hp and 30 more sp, which both seem nice, but I have 0 haste. I figure in the end the haste isn't enough to justify sacrificing the bit of hp and sp? Thoughts?

Personally with that amount of haste, I`m not sure it is worth it. Tbh I would recommend getting all of them and trying it for yourself, it is perfectly common to have multiple sets for each twink to play around with.



I would recommend your second chardev but with a few changes. Of course I already know that you don`t have all the BoA`s yet, but I`ll list the changes I would make so you could always work towards it:



BoA chest and shoulder, either the leather or the mail ones, both have the same stats from what I can see. Put 100 health to chest enchant on the BoA. I would happily trade 4 stamina for 9 crit on the shoulders as you will have decent health in the end. If you feel you lack survivability, sure take the Revelosh Spaulders.



For either build you can take Fiona's Armbands as you will still be hitcapped with that talent build.



For trinkets get Arena Grand Master and Inherited Insignia of the Horde. If you don`t have then the normal pvp trinket and Heart of Noxxion will suffice. You can also switch out the Emissary's Watch for the usage.



Don`t forget 32 armor kit to legs as well.



Carrying a spare Gem-Studded Leather Belt cannot hurt either.



With those changes I see on chardev you should have 3258 health and 3496 mana with 305 SP, which seems about ideal. You can always drop in the haste items and see if you can notice the difference. I have a feeling only by using the herbalism CD and trinket will you see any real difference in cast times during those CD`s.

Thanks for bringing that up, I forgot to ask about that. I'd rather go leather BoA chest if the AC is indeed the same as the mail, as I could use it on multiple characters. I didn't know if it was just showing incorrectly or not though. Can you confirm that both leather and mail BoA's have the same AC prior to 40? I know after 40, the mail boa's AC jumps up.



Also, you can't get Fiona's Armbands, as Belt of the Gentle Lady is also a reward from that quest that I'd rather take.

I can`t personally confirm it as I am away from WoW at the moment (work computer) but I imagine it is as is on chardev. So you can happily take the leather if that is more useful for you on other chars.



Didn`t check thoroughly on the armbands, didn`t realise belt was the from the same quest. Then your current choice is fine as far as I can see.



However there is an alternative of getting Fiona's Armbands and going for Whipvine Cord for the waist. Very slight stam and crit loss for a little more Sp, mana and regen(and hit though not really needed).

Mail BoAs have more armor than leather, even before 40. Also, for shammies don't forget the new satchel shoulder stats. I have the 9 int 14 stam 9 crit, and the bandit (9agi 14 stam 9 crit) on my shaman.

Oh wow, thanks. I didn't even know about those, they have the same stats as BoA minus the AC I guess. I'll have to keep an eye out for those.

1.76. But I'm missing cloak and shoulders afaik. Old char

Edit: Got shoulders, but the boa apparently give better stats over all? Don't know, they are bound to my ele set . Mail with armor etc I guess.
