Stat + Item Level Squish in Midnight

Both. In last 2 years we had 2 stamina nerfs (1 raw -10% and another with rescaling wod gear in favor to socketed).
Exact values are unknown atm, ofc it will be some scaling curve.
Same to mobs.
Thats what i think gonna be negative.
But some funny stuff, maybe trinkets, may get rextroy-like effects, maybe we will get new totem.

Is that good or bad for 20s?
Not really easy to answer outside of some theorycrafting.

my kneejerk reaction is that if the gear change isnt also accompanied by some tuning of abilities then this is going to have zero material effect. Since these changes havent really affected gems historically, it will just make Total Gem Slots a bigger factor. Native stats on gear will drop but youll still be getting +4 agi/int and +3 str for each slot. So as a percent, mainstat wont change much EXCEPT your health pools will get even smaller relative to damage output. Wheeeeeee more oneshots. But since everyone is already getting oneshot, it just means the amount you get overkilled by is the only real change.

But if they tune abilities too? Make adjustments to pvp dmg/stat scaling? Gems start scaling with level? Who fuckin knows. And a lot of that IS likely to change.

The best thing to do is get the PTR downloaded and set up and be ready to test. Historically, its near impossible to test actual changes in pvp because theres not even enough twinks on the ptr to pop an arena, much less a BG.

If we had, say, a solid group of 10-20 people prepared to test on the PTR, we'd have a much better understanding of whats coming, much sooner than usual. Plus, you get a slick forum badge for it ;)

realizing now that "get forum badges showing on threads and not just profiles" has been on my to-do list for like 6 months

Welp time for my yearly dose of Item inspection in my bank and check old/useless gear and trinkets to see which one got a quirky change.

From SL to DF we saw average item level go from 25 - > 84 with not necessarily a big gain in total stats.

I wonder if we will be headed back toward the ilv 25 zone again?

From i25 days to now we had like 150%+ increase in raw stats and 100% increase in secondary stats.
What is common gear now use to be absolute bis unreachable for most people.
Only max proc i37 (later i35) legion pre expansion gear come close to current stats.
There was no streamlining of every gear slot at low level like it is now.
Secondary stats was only available from few slots.
We had exponentially less gearing options.

Back on topic however this wont solve the pacing of things or bring it back to what it use to be.
Within 2 patches it will go tits up again. Kind of been here before.

They could push it to ilevel 1300 some years ago before it mathematically breaks down. Not sure how it is now.
Looks like around i720 is meta now so technically they didn't need it for midnight since it suppose to be shorter one.
Probably doing it because it is absurd.

Also they still got 5+ multipliers for every spell in background so stat distribution more of a smoke screen.
Without flat damage caps and gcd in pvp goin up to like 3 seconds low level retail pvp will still be a clow show.
Solution to a dead leveling queues all over will be introduction of AI bots on permanent basis to everywhere i assume.
