Artifact weapons not gaining item level from relic

So i have made a few F2P vet toons and today I noticed my DK Blades of the fallen prince capped out at item level 24 instead of the usual 30+.

Has anyone else come across this?

Recently there was an exploit that would increase artifacts up to item level 54. Blizzard found out and well.. because they are ''Blizzard'' they just made so artifacts no longer gain item level from relics which made them just ilv24, rather than them just removing the second slot of the relics, they just destroyed artifacts.

Artifacts are no long viable, now you need to broaden your horizon and find a better weapon for your class (unless youre surv hunter)

I'm not 100% convinced Artifacts are gone. Reason: when they deprecate something, it gets the old 'gray text'. Obliterum is the most recent thing I can think of. If relics are indeed a relic of the past, then I would expect it to get the gray. That may soon happen over the next few days, weeks (or never).
The other possibility is that this is a short term fix, and they may actually have some ideas to keep the legacy, without wiping it out completely.

Ripping out artifacts entirely would make questing through Legion a much bigger hassle, plus pissing off everybody who wants to collect their transmog for later. (Which is fair. Artifacts have some pretty sweet mog.) Making them scale as heirlooms allows you to sidestep a lot of the mechanical issues they've caused, while keeping them for all the cosmetic and story based angles. Plus removing the need to add weapons to Legion drop tables all over the place, which would be a massive hassle on its own.

Knowing how blizzard functions, I doubt theyre returning legacy effects on artifacts. If they do that, that would mean everything else has to have their legacy effects active. And doing that will result in more type of cancer that might have slipped blizzard's radar. All they can do is do a half-assed "fix" and call it a day.

I wouldn't really call this one half assed though. Artifacts acting as basically fancy BOA weapons makes perfect sense within the rest of the games intended design. It's certainly better than making HOA req level 40 when it's the main maguffin of BFA... the content you're pushed towards as a fresh level 10.

Overall I'd say this is one of the better solutions they've had to legacy gear

But whats the use of relics now? Even adding them to an X artifact gives them no upgrade nor anything at this point. Better outcome is removing relics entirely if they serve no purpose whatsoever. Kind of like artifact power items, theyre greyed out but give some pretty gold when vendored. Its just so odd to keep old stuff that have no reason to exist anymore other than "Oh hey, that was an expansion long gone now. Oh well, time to spiral into depression lol" Instead of maybe replacing or removing stuff entirely, like Obliterium. A burning reminder of what the game has become, not something to be used even if its old content. Not saying artifacts should be removed 100%, but you get the drift. Blizzard has a malicious way of castrating anything old or niche just because they can. I still dont see why nerfing Ravendare's Blade is a good idea to begin with.
[doublepost=1630613866,1630613732][/doublepost]Just because AmongusGold can clear Mogu'Shan Vault 12 seconds faster, doesnt mean the blade needs to be nerfed

Converting %speed into speed rating is good, actually

Consistency is good!

Like, you've picked out two actually good changes blizzard has made to make the mechanics of their game more consistent and predictable.

Are relics now vendor trash? Fine. That story's over anyway and that fits with artifacts being de-powered.

If blizzard is going to insist on borrowed power systems (which is bad and they shouldn't) then the least they can do is completely obviate them in the next expansion. Thats actually good.

Luckily blizzard didn't make them grey.. Which allowed me to continue dumping as many as I could on all the AHs.. People still buying them :D:D:D I prob cannot finish selling all my relic, but at least I can recover some gold.. feel bad for those buyers who are still paying 50k or 25k for them :D:D:D

I basically spent all yesterday BG'ing and I'm seeing a lot of people still using their artifacts. I get that some people might not have a replacement but I'd wager many people just don't know yet.
