Talasite farming

1. Find a good podcast
2. Order pizza
3. Go pick a cave or two in the center of Nagrand and just hole up for a couple days farming adamantite ore
4. Have 3-4K ore? Prospect it.
I got a couple on alts killing Magtheridon from his sack of gems. Otherwise I've prospected lots of ore with little success

yep. Its an extremely low chance. Thats why I said 3k to 4k ore. I'd expect about ~15-20 talasites out of that. But it's the difference between actively putting in a long weekend of work or passively waiting a couple months on mag bags while you do other things.

What is the best to get talasite?

If you can play the long game.
  1. Check the auction house many times a day for many months
  2. Make a shocked pikachu face when someone lists them for under 200 gold
  3. Drop that pizza slice and buyout the talasite auction
  4. Giggle with glee looking at the 210+ talasites that have accumulated over many months

I've been mining the 2 opposing caves on Warmaul Hill (NW Nagrand) and that seems to be working well. Run through one, catch a node or two and immediately head to the other. Rinse/repeat.

I'd say I've mined about 1000 ore and have 5 Talasites to show for it, after prospecting.

edit: just checked on my bank toon and found 3 on the AH for 100g a piece. I'm a lucky duck...

Thanks for the help.
I just bought a talasite gem on the AH for 4g!
Will checkout nagrand later tonight

Another thing to note. Create brilliant glass with all the non important gems you get (learnt at JC 50 I think.)
These have a pretty high chance to drop talasite when you crack them open (not sure what % but it sure as hell is higher than prospecting hundreds, I estimate 30%)

20 hr cd tho so I recommend making brilliant glass concurrently with prospecting.

The gem is prospected? Is this the only gem with higher stat that is prospected or there are other ores that can prospect other higher stat gems?

raw talasite is prospected just like a bunch of other raw gems. STEADY talasite still has to be cut from the raw material. Sorry buddy, you're not gonna prospect any of your 5/6 gems.

sad news lolol .. could save a lot of time from dailies and i have several guild banks holding ores alone

Just dropping by to say that I second this because I did the exact same thing back in december or so and it worked nicely. You can also slaughter a bunch of ogres in the way for free Kurenai rep.

i think the correct answer to this question and all farming related questions is that, make so much gold that you can effectively "hire" others to do the farming for you.

So don't farm XYZ, farm the AH, or literally farm the gold on a 60, and then buy XYZ with gold.

When I needed them for my level 10s I always ran Hyjal Summmit on all my toons. The raid zone has Ancient Gem Vein that have a good chance to contain Talasite. You can only run the raid once a week, but its definitely worth to run it on all the toons you can.
You're patient as fuck my dude, kudos to that. Hyjal is literally the worst designed raid in existance. The waves and waves of trash packs are just obnoxious as shit. I can't even begin to imagine the thought of running that crap on a single character, let alone multiple ones! But oh well, what else could be expected from a raid that shares the same principle as Old Hillsbrad Foothills, right? :LUL:

PS: I'm not flaming or judging you for doing it or anything like that, just impressed that you have the patience to run it on multiple characters, but if it works it works! It is always nice to see folks coming with alternative ways to get shit done :)

I got everything from AH if the items can be sold, the downside is, it will be bad if you are from realms that overprice things on AH.. eg. if you are from BH then you are gonna pay for 9k a gem on AH. But if you are from BH and you need this gem, just let me know the price you want to buy and the quantity.. I have inbound toons to BH in 2 weeks time

I often farm these in Hyjal Summit too, especially on slower servers without any on AH.
It can be a little repetitive for sure, but only once a week and not as bad as Old Hillsbrad imo.
Mind you few things are.
Though I can see how Hyjal could be a real pain on a melee class if those gargoyles stay out of range.
