Is frost mage the new thing?

I mean, I'm not trying to be pithy. I've seen several over the past two weeks or so and they're doing considerably well. I mean, it's not arcane DPS but who cares.

Anything to break up the monotony of missile spam

Aye, arcane is a spec of despondency and aids. It's a pain since arcane is a populated spec not only for lvlers but for twinks aswell. If you roll an arcane mage, and take it seriously. Your account deserves to get banned.

jk^

The thing with Arcane is that they have sick 1 button dmg. While as frost mage is overall more well designed to handle melees, while being trained.. Due to their roots, almost constant slows, and often racial traits that provides more cc(That don't DR with Poly, ofc...) Or more mobility. Maybe even draenei-racials aswell due to increased int and the Naaru-heal. (Wich works aight with any mage spec, I guess.)
Tho arcane has sick damage, there is a lot more outplayability-potential in playing Frost. That's how I view it atleast.

I feel like this is accurate. I usually heal myself through an arcane mage and either bait them into chasing me into a bad position or just frustrate them enough that they'll switch targets. Run into a frost mage and all of a sudden I cant go anywhere? Makes for a rough time.

Makes alot of sense, depending on what type of caster/healer you are playing, I guess.. For example as a druid, Arcane can get off a kill with a lucky "one shot" burst. Whilst as Frost will likely never win it, due to no selfheals, their roots/slows/mobility not making a difference and their Polymorphs not being relevant.(As druids can just shapeshift all of it.)
But for casters/healers who are easily outplayed by getting their mobility locked down, it will be cc-hell xD

Hilariously, I usually play druids.

but I've been on a shaman recently and its just been tons of fights with me like "man, I wish I could shift out of this nova" and "oh, right. wolf form doesnt make me immune to poly" lol. oh well. I'm just glad to see folks shaking up the meta a bit. Hope others follow suit.

I actually loved playing Frost awhile back, but it felt supercheesy due to Ray of Frost being able to almost global someone if you caught them with their interrupt on cooldown and they couldn’t out-of-range you.

Well-placed Blizzards in WSG/BfG/EoTS can be huge, and just generally CC’ing the shit out of melee is definitely satisfying. It just sucks that Arcane’s damage is so mongo right now, so all the plebs have zero desire to play anything else. This bracket will always be full of FoTM though; it’s just the nature of the beast.

I took my pythax out of dust and start the frost mage mové, who really began this was albino with his "místerfreeze" and its not op as arcane but for sure viable and super fun, more like a stacking burst and going for big damage Windows. Arcane still pulls out more damage without even trying, but for sure frost more fun, follow the frost mové you arcanes.
Am still learning the class.

If you think Arcane is played with one button you really should stop by my stream some time. I'll agree that most BOT players have their entire action bar bound to Arcane Missiles - but there's a reason why I can drop 50 killing blows, top damage, and not die most games even if i'm solo queuing. Everyone has the same amount of abilities (roughly) unlocked at 29, it's the matter of who fully uses their kit properly and what kind of game sense they have as a player. On a more serious note Fire can be good if used with crit and Firestarter, unfortunately even with an insta 2x pyro, fireball for an opener, and a fireblast... you will only get a target to 20-30%. Frost is extremely good for utility and control and survive and I respect any good players regardless of spec. If you want to talk about aids classes let's talk about Hunters that hit for 1000+ just from Incendiary Ammo... omegalol.
