Looking to start 29s again.

Just recently came back to WoW and am thinking about catching my old FC hunter up on gear and playing again. I've got an off damage set as well, but wanted to get opinions on anything I may need to pick up/switch out. Also, what's the state of the bracket? (How active, strongest classes, pops and guilds?)
Changes I know:

Update enchants
Switch to mail boa

I've reviewed what is available, but the hunters seem lacking. Not to mention there's no beast mastery hunters.
