What Healer Should I Play?

Adam

Grandfathered
I've noticed the general lack of healers/good healers in this bracket (especially Alliance) and wanted to make one myself. I have recently come back to the game after a long break (it's been even longer for twinking) and was wondering how each class plays in terms of Healing spec and what your suggestions are. Preferably a healer who can stay alive really well while still healing superbly.

What healers do y'all think are overpowered right now? Underpowered?

Appreciate all helpful comments to get me going along this journey. Thank you! lol :p

All heals are fun! It all depends on your style of play. You can even do well with a Holy Paladin if you like them. They have great defense, dispel poisons, bubbles, 6sec stuns, can glyph into a 5% raid buff, very speedy...
MW if played right are a constant instant cast healer. Although, you have to watch your mana and stay with a group. MW are easily interrupted as well. And you have to switch stances if you want to mount any kind of attack.
Shamans are the kings/queens survivability right now if they are geared/enchanted/talented correctly. Even racials can play a role on survival for a healer. Rocket jumps have saved my bacon untold amounts of time on my level 20 along with Nature's Guardian/BM trinket. They can decurse/dispel, interupt, slow, DoT and can offensively dispel! They have pretty decent damage too 1v1 because of their speed they can run circles around most classes, literally. Shamans have LOTs to do in a BG. Good shamans should be #1 on the dispel list along with a HPaladin.
Disc Priest are very vulnerable 1/2 of the time. The other have of the time they should have a shield on themselves. Unless an opposing shaman dispels it. Priest can be fun if you like to do a little damage as well. Priest are normally at the top of the healing chart since absorbs count as heals now. And most, not all, disc priests just go willy-nilly with the shields regardless if you need one or not. Which leaves you vulnerable when you really need one.

Thank you for the info. I think I'm going to roll an rsham

Disc Priest: Strongest healer in the bracket, has very good damage, somewhat squishy, doesn't have mobility, you are gimped if there is a 2nd priest in the BG.

Resto Shaman: strong healer, good mobility, good survivability, VERY good utility (can purge, dispell, and shear)

Mistweaver monk: strongest single target healing in the bracket, good mobility, good utility (can lust others), no damage

Resto Druid: Very weak healing, very good damage in cat form (like all specs), best flag carrier in bracket

Holy Pala: Weak healing, good mobility (150% speed at all times if you keep 3 charges up), decent utility (dispel and lay on hands), decent damage (holy shock and denounce)

Healing Wise, I would say Disc > Rsham = MW > hpala > rdruid

Damage Wise, I would say rdruid (cat form) > disc > hpala > rsham > MW (no damage)

Mobility Wise, I would say Rdruid > MW > hpala = rsham > disc

Utility Wise, I would say Rshaman > MW > Hpala > Rdruid = disc

Overall Rating:
Disc 5 stars
Rsham 5 stars
MW 4 stars
Hpala 3 stars
Rdruid Healing 2 stars
Rdruid FCing 5 stars

Good assessment.

It all depends on what you really want to do with your healer and how you intend play.
For me, I solo queue and practically all I do it play an offensive healer roll. So, I tend to play shaman a lot. I don't like playing a DPS roll. I play a MW in AB.

hpally really isn't very good for healing with... by that i mean it sucks lol. i've outhealed my holy pally on a 20 disc easy but the utility makes it so fun, plus 40% armor and divine protection to make you nice and tanky.

saw op say he's making an rsham, good choice just make sure you have lots of stam since you don't have much utility / defensives. GL
