  • Hey,

I recently discovered something that shocked me!

Apparently as of WoD to compensate for the stat squish they added a new progression mechanism, item level equipped. It acts as a damage taken and dealt multiplier in raids, dungeons, and to a lesser extent (about 10% of the effect) in the open world such as the training dummies.

So I now want to create a list of all really high item level gear that can be equipped at a low level. If you know of any items that can be obtained and equipped with an item level over 200 please share them here.

    List so far:

    Item Level - Item Name
    400 - Bottled Tornado
200 - Gnomish Thinking Cap (Requires: 400 Engineering)

Not sure if this is or ever was available for low levels but I've seen people with the transmog, might have been from the old bug though. Kor'kron Dark Shaman Armor - Transmog Set - World of Warcraft

Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole - Item - World of Warcraft there's this too, again not 100% if you can grind the rep for it. Doesn't count as a melee weapon for abilities but it still has base damage.

Items - World of Warcraft this is where I checked for the items and it took me maybe 5 minutes, there's other stuff under 200 ilvl you might be interested in looking at.

p.s. engineering requires a level of 10 to get the skill.

Can confirm the Kor'kron set as I have it on my sham, it increases Ilvl, I'll test the effect later on!

Edit: FFS, wish I'd noticed this sooner. With 283 Ilvl equipped, I'm doing 900+ lightning bolts, near 200 riptide tick heals, 400-500 Flame shocks, 200 searing totem, and even 500+ ele force ticks. This all with 93 SP. I logged out in the set so you can check it out.

Awesome thank you for that test info Vehemity!! Did it work in PVP BTW? Or just dungeons? I'm still trying to collect use data :)

I made a highest ilvl suit for my lvl 20 priest, just in case it boosts my pvp stats in legion. I got ilvl 67 which isn't half bad for a non-shaman and considering my heirlooms @ lvl 20 are only ilvl 25.

But when I equip this ilvl 67 suit my damage / healing does NOT go up in pve....what am I doing wrong? Or maybe it's only noticeable with those ilvl 500 shaman pieces.

Anyway this what I'm using to get ilvl 67 @ lvl 20.

Bottled Tornado - Item - World of Warcraft
Stratholme Lily - Item - World of Warcraft
The Rock - Item - World of Warcraft x 2
Insignia of the Horde - Item - World of Warcraft
Problem Solving Pendant - Item - World of Warcraft
Mist-Piercing Goggles - Item - World of Warcraft
Parachute Cloak - Item - World of Warcraft
Gnomish Rocket Boots - Item - World of Warcraft

Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 - Item - World of Warcraft if you are level 29.

If you look at the blue post you will see that it doesn't boost your damage starting at ilevel 1. Instead it has an IntendedItemLevelByExpansion variable so you only get effect for anything that passes this magic value.

For classic the magic number is 65 so with ilevel 67 you should see a 3.33% damage increase and a 2% damage decrease in dungeons and raids. Obviously this is tiny, so you only really want to use this system if you are raiding like at 60, 70, 80, or 85. Or if you can get items so OP that you can beat the magic number by a mile, like the Shaman set.

I hope this helps you understand how it works a little better.
