TC 2015 - Story
Looks like it's become acceptable to give your take on the Twink Cup, but instead of just doing that, I'd like to share my process since I landed on the US servers, as well as my experience leading up to the tourney.
Despite the tl;dr, I'll have to stick with what some of the predecessors have said; "I assume you won't read this" -like attitude, but like many others I'd like to get some things off my chest, and I believe that sharing is caring!
Twink Cup 2015; The Story
I represent the monkeys of GSC, an irrelevant team that placed 3rd in the tourney.
That you MAY or MAY NOT give a crap about, but some of the people I've met on my journey just deserve such massive recognition after the experience I had this sunday.
I'd hate to swing this out there, but I'll have to say this to give my words some value. If I'm not the one, then atleast one of the people who has been most invested in this whole thing. And 'us' being twink nerds and all, that's a pretty big statement!...
Before
I litterally, crossed continents... Had people, who the best personal grasp I could get, was reading their subtext from the virtual words online: gather up and FUND ME, this "stranger", who's face they had never seen with their own eyes, a 1000 f*cking dollars for a plane ticket. From sleeping on the beaches of the caribbean with no money, to flying to the UK.I got to meet fellow nerd buddies I've wanted to get a little closer to than just talking through a computer screen. I sacrificed 4-5 months, living on a floor, in an apartment of a guildmate who I had never met.
Sleeping on two couch pillows for 5 months, spending 90% of my time awake on vods, strategy content, getting established in the US community and looking forward to the cup. While playing WoW on my toaster of a laptop in 600x400 resolution, balancing on a shoebox.
Trying to be a rolemodel through all of this. I've held myself down, trying to look on the bright side of life, eventually reaching clarity, of what I had gotten myself into; living in a strangers apartment in a country that smelled like this monotone society where it isn't okay to smile at strangers. Surviving of 20$ a week for food.
Strugling with physical issues, forcing myself to be inside and just become one with 'nerdism', from having a body used to needing sun and excersise lol...
I felt obliged to keep the ball going to keep the people who stuck around and dedicated latenight weekdays to premade.
About a month leading up to the cup, I just stopped caring, I was still in it, just to hold my loyalty, to commit to what I had started, with the players I had met. But in all honesty I really had lost all interest in anything regarding the game or even the cup itself.
Till eventually there was a few days left, and i just prayed that I would have a glimse of fun. Trying to calm my team filled with insecure teenagers+, drama issues and kindergarden act of young men - that they shouldn't expect anything special.
Like I genuinely thought nothing could have made any worth for all that I had sacrificed, with this quite frankly, super mediocre team filled with the most random thrown together clash of locker room swet and outcasted 'twonks'.
... And a maybe a week from now, I might just be homeless, with a penny or two in my pocket...
You ask yourself, why am I boring you with this?
After
I'm here to tell you that after being part of Twink Cup 2015, every little damn moment I spent facepalming over my miserable life, turned into god damn mother cracking GOLD.And this is coming from a LOSERS POV with all this TL;DR BS said above. HOLY F*CKING SHIT.
Participating in this tourney was beyond the biggest thrill I've had playing this game, and that's coming from a nerd who has played this game since the start.
The competition was so f*cking close, whoever made it to the placement they got, was either cause of good luck or bad luck, straight up real talk. Don't think anyone who made it this far didn't have their super wobbly moments.
From speedcaps, mindgames, last moment returns, big plays and the list goes on, none the less this a participant pov, but also watching the games I weren't a part of - were epic!
Even to the slightly sad teams that didn't quite make it, I guess I can only speak out to the participants here, but looking back in retrospect? Wasn't it absolutely braindeadly awesome?!
From our opening ownage session against JCM,
To our clutches win against Waka,
To our absolute RAGE against PING
And finally an awesomely long and EXHAUSTING series against SR.
... My blood is still boiling and I didn't even win!
IF YOUR VOICE COM WAS ANYTHING REMOTELY LIKE OURS - YOU had fun.
Apperently if you're aiming to dominate mid, this is how your communication should be like in every game:

Straight up.
Sure, things could have run more smooth, looked dark from the getgo, 'Gamers Losers' broke their legs and failed their more than miserable life's than my own, and couldn't show.
A lot of delay, and some speedbumps along the road.
But I couldn't have done this better myself. AND THEESE THINGS HAPPEN.
This community is like a big high school. It's not the f*cking government. A high school filled with alot of anger issued teenagers sure, but that's part of high school! As well as some teachers trying to keep order, and the high school dropouts who still hang around, they need some love too! Everyone knows eachother, we all feed of being part of this close enviroment. It's the intimacy that drives me atleast!
And sure, I too biasedly preferred JCM to win, despite me actually liking a few of the SR players, and It'll tear me apart, hearing their egoes gloating on the forums the next year
- But let's be real, even tho everyone except SR are moody and complaining about them winning. First of, I objectively think they were the best team, and SECONDLY, and most brutally important I'm glad they won. Why?
SO everyone will want to come back next year and dropkick their mfkin a-holes!
Yes John, I'll be back for your ass. And you guys better improve alot, or you're gonna get thrown around the room, by me or someone else!
Last but definitely not least, the soul reason for my tl;dr thread, was to show some love for the masked criminals who fought for justice and who suprisingly just took over the wheel and carried me to the semi-finals. Gang signs and love are deserved for theese young men turned grownups, Some proper recognition.
The Team
Over the course of the tourney we exchanged players here and there, and litterally didn't have 10 players to play till 2 days before the first game.We had multiple accounts which we signed up with as level 10s before the signup deadline and winged the classes we had to work with, with the players we could get.

Straight out of Sweden, I give to you by far one of the coolest and litterally calmest people on the roster. A long time loyal participant of this family filled with bananas. From B-team boomkin. to dedicating his weekdays 3 months ago for this project. As big of a bawler outside of the gaming world as he is within. Quite frankly one of the biggest suprises during the tournament, who completely stepped to the game that was needed. Alex, the professional sports jock and our smooth Swedish hunk.
This f*cking argumental forum addict. This above average multi-noob. Who just so maturely engaged the whole project from the getgo and set off time, invested money, helped with accounts and was a real person you could contact in tough situations. A political gifted person. From slum to hero and surely worthy healer by my side!
This motherf*cker... He's listening to your streams, he knows all your names, he's got your moms phonenumber on speed dial, he lurks in the corners and trolls around till things get serious. The man of a thousand names, who could find dirt in a snowstorm. Who was one of the main reasons I came to the UK, to get a fresh computer to play on, which we never got to work anyway. Who picked me up in the airport and drove me a 7 hour trip to my destination. This English lad, who always has to get a word in. Ready to fight for justice, and when push comes to shove, this piece of high blood sugar steps the hell up. A real friend.
The retard known from silly f2p bracket, exploiting his way to victory, whomb everyone disliked and outcasted. Till in dark situations, when you need help and no one else is trustworthy, you must crawl down in the sewers. This guy, who 2days before cup got into the bracket without even knowing my name. But when it came to be serious, despite being our selected retard of the week, Andreas suprised me, and behind that exploiting dufus I had an impression of in the past, this guy stepped up to the plate and arised to the challenge.
Holy sweet jesus, yes. I'm sure half of you are shocked or maybe even slightly embaressed that a guy somewhat outcasted from the US continent, would perform so well. Cause regardless if you could see it or not, this F*CKING, little insecure aussie kid, grew 12 f*cking inches into a man. This young man who barely said a word, and the best impression I can give you of this kid is: "^", who always says what the next man has mentioned. But wow. When the gates came down, and it was time to play, from silent to "GET ON THIS TARGET RIGHT F*CKING NOW". Who's passion and anger boosted everyones morale. Hands down the teams MVP, for truely sparkling energy into a movement, that made us one.
Multiple rank1, blizzcon contestant NERD. Who had the biggest and realest balls of them all. As much as Filip wanted to win and smash newbs, when he got contacted a few days before the tourney to play, I think he came to understand it was more than just winning. As this young man, real as F'CK, grew everytime he played. As he fueled his engine with team motivation. A beast, THE beast. Whos best moment was after we took on Partys Over in the Arena tourney went "Haha, silly Staystrong can't even get above 3k, f*cking 2971 shit dk". Who despite all the comic relief trashtalk that filled his lungs, he went HAM and single handedly carried so many games it's out of count.
The most obnoxiously immature kid, who has crossed my path. A mechanical horror movie, a super gifted geniu son of a b*tch from Ireland, who has as much a problem with respect and discipline as he has refraining from causing drama. Who single-handedly caused a massive demoralization towards me and the team leading up to the cup. However, he was also single-handedly the reason it all became worth it in the end. My expecations were way below what the final outcome reached, and the young boy grew into a man, litterally as he celebrated his birthday the first day of tourney. Who seeminglessly had no interest of helping the team, untill the team needed it, where it had so much more of an impact than had it been by any else. I bring to you Jamie, a force of nature.
The goon, a real "n*gga" as Save would consider himself. A mixed blood, young man who understands a bit from both worlds, but who was stuck and lost in translation somewhere inbetween. One of the happiest moments I had since i arrived to US, was after the cup. When this young man told me we had inspired him for the better. To think that I, me or WE, as a folk, could have had an impact in anyones life is just beyond anything else I value. Save got picked up, and he is and will be welcomed with open doors anytime he wishes. There's more to this young man than meets the eye, don't judge a book by its cover.
Mike. The origin of the old team, and one of the only members from this one, that stuck around together with Hardbass aka Ashley. Zale is the god. From being a calm, quiet, rational human being. I quite frankly have not a finger to put on this person, wether it be ingame or out. Vocality is not one of Zale's eras, but he moves one with the team, adapts quick and carrys games. Straight up. If it wasn't visable in this tourney alone, I can't explain how brutally any team needs a person like this, but you can't have him, he's mine. Going along the name of Undependable when we arrived to the US. Despite not always seeing his impact on the scoreboard, him being part of the movement, regardless of class meant we were the stronger mid. From clutch ninjas with 200ms in the tourney, to tripple cc'd healers -last winning moments. I bring to you flawless rational, Mike.
As brutally of a team player as it is required. Ashley is an angel by heart. His glow effects his team members wether he's with me or not. One of the guys. But not just one of them, actually, THE one. Hardbass brings passion into his artwork as he tries to perfect the defensive hunter role. Long before it was 'invented' in the current meta, pre-saccing his life from his mothers wombs, he brings flavor and assistance for those in need. I give to you, the fundamental bass of sound, but with a rough edge along the sides; Hardbass - Ashley.

The feeling I have right now is so surreal, it feels like we've all been on this massive class trip, where some fell into the lake, others got their first kiss, and Chewie got lost in the woods. But even tho half of us on the bus ride home, are exhausted, unsaftisfied & moody! - It's been ridiculously awesome, real f*king talk.
...& FINALLY, for everyone that has made an impact on me in my path, or us as a group since I arrived, truely deserves a shoutout, may it be big or small, you have made an impression on me, in my life, towards my destination, thank you.
