  • Just a little story on the 2 years away.
While I have been away I have had the game play experience one can only wish for. Though I still lack in gameplay style I learned so much about arena. Faelqt Wizkidone Flynn Bop Cer Oldspike Vailent Spewfeel Lluyd Broc Swerve Lockqt Frostrole Robbyjuana reit Streetnoodle Krew/Sweetluvin Doz Hydox Izac Lankypuss Reportednips Ittybitty Original, are not all but just a few people that have helped me a whole lot within the game.

I originally saw no light in casters or how a mage could do well in pvp as a starter. I was on EU when I was told about a realm called Aerie Peak and a video done by Swagcleavic/WIzkidone.

At the time I did not transfer back over to US because things were popping so much on EU. Anyone that played in cata eu know Cripzblood,Flipzmytoast, the notorious Rusty interlope or something like that, Reham and the aggramar crew. BGs were really a warzone back in cata and would go either way nearly all day aswell.

When Mop hit I was able to watch a swagcleavic stream and I had just came back to US. I rush to Guru arena as fast as I could hoping I would get to wargame vs him. At the time my hunter was not really geared but had enough power/health at 1400 to be useful. When I played vs him I took notice to the way he used cc chains and positioning to his advantage as his healer was Kaige. After playing vs them I went searching tons of pvp things and learned more about CC chains and DRS and how comps like double war hpal could actually be beaten by a mage/lock/healer team.
In 5.4 just when I thought I had seen it all I saw this.

    View attachment 5669

I did a few games vs them and I was opened up to a new level for F2P play as I had never seen such coordination before.
I noticed the druid would be distanced nearly perfect at all times avoiding cc and the mage and lock were fast with switching cc on to all 3 members of my team. Keep in mind that a noob or new comer that has been on a survival hunter in cata thinks the team with the most damage will always win. This was not the case however I learned damage can be countered by cc and pressure. I also learned pressure might not be on you but when you healer isn't really playing the game you are fucked.

In effort to bounce back I got lucky and teamed up with Streetnoodle and I called Izac on Bnet and asked if he would do the unthinkable and play shadowpriest . As you know in 5.4 priest had major utility of cc and I figured along with that a shield would be nice too. This was one the the first times I knew I had to leave survival and roll MM which I never liked doing. I knew that in order to beat Wizkidone Fael and Bop I would still need damage. Survival did damage but that MLD was so fast explosiveshot would only drop someone to 65% before I was cc'd or Bop healed it up. When the arena started Faelqt and Wizkidone ran in(if you played vs them you would know they waste no time setting up cross cc) I was able to meld the first fear and that forced Wizkidone to run in and arcane explosion. Quickly after that I set up my CC on the druid and started casting aimed shot on the mage within the window the mage and lock where trying to cc my rdruid which is very hard if u know streetnoodle(he sits back so dam far) but things went as planed the mage dropped to about 30% or less health then blinked into a fear from Izac and the rdruid got panda stunned(lol pandas). I will tell a few more stories later.

    PvP TWINK INTERVIEW #1 Lankypuss

    1. Hi, Please state your mains name and class and you f2p experience(years)
Lankypuss, I played US during cata and mop but play EU more in wod. I played feral in cata and mop, but currently play priest and rogue.

    2. What are your top 3 arena comps. Please tell a little details why you pick these comps and the overall advantages the comps give you. 2. I'll presume you're talking about 2s since it's more popular at f2p at the moment. My favourite comps to play is mage priest, double rogue and lock rogue

    3. This guide is mainly dealing with the warrior class. How do you feel warriors have changed from the cataclysm, mist of pandaria , and warlords of draenor.
I don't feel like that warriors have changed much but ofcourse as everyone knows arms is strong. The class was probably most balanced in cata, very bursty in mop on single targets when they could stay on them and right now warriors have immence dot pressure with rend but requires healer help for the rend pressure to be an issue.

    4. What are the most important things to remember in arenas.
    Have fun ^.^

    5. How do you handle melee comps differently than caster comps.
Both are strong in their own away. Melee comps, are stronger out of the two damage wise while caster comps focus more on ccing one or multiple targets to make it a 2v1 in 2s or 3v1 in 3s. Against melee comps you need to be able to relieve pressure by ccing players or put out more pressure by doing damage. Against caster comps, try to los incoming cc and they shouldn't be too much of an issue.

    6. What is your view on the Arms War Balance Druid Disc Priest/Rsham comp.
Very strong top tier comp for 3s. Huge dot pressure to heal though.

    7. What do you feel are the best healer lock down comps.
I guess you can make a healer limited by doing so much damage that they are forced to only heal (stops rsham from purging, shearing and stops disc and rdruid from damaging.) Also, healer lock down comps can just be a ton of cc, mage, lock and priest is a good example.

    8. Explain the difference in the top comps in warlords of draenor than the previous two expansions.
Didnt arena much at cata, but mop I would say Hunter, mage and hpal was a strong comp. With the lack of CC dr and instant Cc from the hpal and hunt, it can allow the mage to get polys off with ease. Or just pom poly. In wod, the strongest could be ret arms rsham, or arms balance disc.

    9. Are there any arena comps you feel have sustained a decent position throughout all 3 expansions.
Rmp isn't too bad, was great in mop and cata. Also, thug cleave can be successful with the strong opener after a good sap.

    10. Are there any specific f2p arena players that standout to you for any reasons
In no particular order, people I love to play with and against. Living, tapout, wizkid, krew, hb, nicozy, trickynick (bae), kendi, bop, oldspike, fael, watergun, Flynn and as of late zehj and spiriel.

    11. Who are the best warriors in the f2p bracket you know.
There isn't a very high skill cap for arms, gear can make a huge difference and the most geared warrior I know Is probably Oldspike, jibbed and Zehj.

    12. Do you think the most powerful comps of warlords could survive in mist or cata?
    Possibly

    13. What sites , tutorials , videos do you enjoy watching related to f2p and that you would recommend to other players.
Don't watch many tutorials or such, but websites, Twinkinfo.

    14. Do you make any videos, guides, or have you been in anyone else's? If so please tell.
Currently working on rogue arena video with Bendicus the fluffy for fun

    15. What are improvements in classes that you are looking forward to.
F2p arenas are probably the most balanced out of all the twinking brackets. Maybe nerf guard, keg smash and ferocious bite a lil.

    16. How have the addition of monks changed the f2p bracket arena wise.
Monks at F2P are fine. Fotm but fine.Variety is always good, but monks being fotm just made a majority of new players roll it. Better monks than ferals though.

    17. What has been the best patch for healers to you.
Best patch for healers, not sure if it was 5.1 or 5.2 but with no battle fatigue they were strong.

    18. hat was the easiest and hardest patch for healers.
Dont think there has really been a easy or hard patch, healers have always been you know...healers.

    19. Out of the 3 expansions which do you favor the most.
Cataclysm by far. I think the majority of veterans would agree.

    20. What are common mistakes in arenas you see new players make.
Roll fotm than trying to find a class that they would enjoy playing, there are also new player mistakes like trinketing unnecessary saps and not losing but you only really learn that with practice.

    21. What are the hardest viable comps to be successful playing.
In 2s, lock mage since it's incredibly fun but requires good communication with your partner in landing CCs. Also, lock rogue for the same reason. In 3s, lock priest sham. Very cc concentrated comp and lack in damage but still viable and fun.

    PVP TWINK INTERVIEW #2 Biggie/Hydox

    1. Hi, Please state your mains name and class and you f2p experience(years)
    Biggie,Hunter, June 2011.

    2. What are your top 3 arena comps. Please tell a little details why you pick these comps and the overall advantages the comps give you.

Top 3 Arena Comps are MLP, KFC, Stars Align. MLP is obvious, poly, fear, seduction, another fear, a silence, dispels, and the most aggressive healer means you're usually ahead on any team that's not ready for you from the get go. KFC because in terms of raw damage a hunter and a warrior connecting on someone, especially with a really good hunter was nearly unbeatable for a lot of F2P. Finally stars align because a good pillaring boomkin/aff/rsham team could live forever, CC quite a lot and put out insane pressure.

    3. This guide is mainly dealing with the warrior class. How do you feel warriors have changed from the cataclysm, mist of pandaria , and warlords of draenor.
Warriors in Cata were a lot more skill based imo. You had way more abilities, piercing howl, stance swapping etc. Warriors like Budson and Mialu were game changers and it wasn't just rend spreading and slam spamming. In MoP warriors got buffed with damage (double time) but I think they got less fun because you have so much less to work with. Focus charging is really all you have. I don't do F2P in WoD because it's terrible, so I have no idea what warriors are like now. Judging from the arena tournament they do insane damage and your racial is your only skill based spell.

    4. What are the most important things to remember in arenas.
The most important thing in arenas is communication, knowing the other classes as well as you know your own and being creative.

    5. How do you handle melee comps differently than caster comps.
You handle melee comps differently by avoiding being cleaved, using the pillar to force LoS issues and bring their healer out, and by being able to CC a lot easier relative to other casters (who can often play the CC game with you). WIth melee it's usually about surviving the initial burst with CC whereas with casters it's about lining up a kill in a set CC duration.

    6. What is your view on the Arms War Balance Druid Disc Priest/Rsham comp.
Arms/Balance/Disc is good, RSham is too. Really anything like that is going to be fine. Just keep in mind you have very limited CC here so good teams will be able to lock down your warrior easily and train the druid to stop his damage.

    7. What do you feel are the best healer lock down comps.
Best healer lock down comp is WW/Rogue (Or BM) and/or Rogue/Warr. I don't know WoD F2P. I only do end game.

    8. Explain the difference in the top comps in warlords of draenor than the previous two expansions.
MLP has sustained it's viability. Ret Priest has sustained it's viability. Really anything with priest because they've kept their offensive ability throughout. Hunters finally got nerfed in WoD so they aren't so viable now.

    9. Are there any arena comps you feel have sustained a decent position throughout all 3 expansions.

    10. Are there any specific f2p arena players that standout to you for any reasons
Uh in all my playing Wizkid and Goldendays are the only players who I thought stood out in a way where I knew I wasn't as good as they were from the get go. Goldendays because he just didn't make mistakes (there's a reason he was r1 twice on that druid Pause).. I remembering dueling him in Cata on the original Biggie. We had a 1 hour and 15 minute duel that something like 20 people ended up watching. He used line of sight to force position like no one else did. Wizkid because he just knows the game and how to get the best out of people. I'm pretty sure I used to destroy him in Durotar on our mains in Wrath which is why he won't share his name with me pre-Cata, but he's eclipsed most F2P players a long time ago.

    11. Who are the best warriors in the f2p bracket you know.
Best warriors.. hm. Budson, Mialu, Oldspike. Not many others stand out in terms of being crazy skilled, especially in arena settings. I'm not naming multiclassers who play everything here obviously. I'm probably forgetting people, unfortunate side factor of being a warrior.

    12. Do you think the most powerful comps of warlords could survive in mist or cata?
    N/A

    13. What sites , tutorials , videos do you enjoy watching related to f2p and that you would recommend to other players.
I used to read TI for fun, but it's pretty terrible now. Watch HB stream for F2P games, friendly shoutout to his stream twitch.tv/fearthebuns or twitch.tv/hydoxs for myself, although I don't stream F2P much anymore. I'd recommend playing end game. Get to 100 and play for a month. Come back to F2P and you'll be in the top 1%.

    14. Do you make any videos, guides, or have you been in anyone else's? If so please tell.
I've been in a lot of arena videos. Pretty much any arena video you've seen I've been in. I have random chars on EU and a lot of hidden characters on US that people don't know I am. Just something I do so I can play with people without being afraid to lose. I've written guides on TI and twinking.net as well, but you can find them under Fiddy or Biggie. Not really going to specify all of them, but I'm there!

    15. What are improvements in classes that you are looking forward to.
I would like more abilities back in terms of improvements to classes. Really that's the most important thing. Level 29s get everything 20s should imo.

    16. How have the addition of monks changed the f2p bracket arena wise.
Monks are just another class imo. Tiger's Lust is pretty cool and it made the bracket more interesting but well frankly, with running yourself on a 90 possible now people gear too quickly. It made the amazing monks cheapened (I remember Tooleggs to this day because of his RoP that he had back in Cata when NO ONE else had it). Now I don't even really care that anyone has a geared monk because everyone does.

    17. What has been the best patch for healers to you.
Best patch for healers was definitely pre-MoP. They wouldn't die and could kill anyone. Remember Holy Shock spam? 3 tick penance? Feralrestos?

    18. hat was the easiest and hardest patch for healers.
Hardest patch was probably the patch right after that when hunters and rogues got buffed again. Pretty much just saw one shotting everywhere at that point.

    19. Out of the 3 expansions which do you favor the most.
I liked Cata the most, I think objectively everyone should have. WoD did the most for twinks but by now it's too late.

    20. What are common mistakes in arenas you see new players make.
Common mistakes are easy to find - I have a guide on twinking.net that goes over all of that with a video.

    21. What are the hardest viable comps to be successful playing.
Hardest viable comp? I don't know... it differs. Random shit like Aff Lock Enh Shaman or Boomkin Fire Mage probably..

Similar to PTR most F2Ps end up playing endgame when given the opportunity as they are not restricted to just level 20s anymore.
