TTJ interview with Kincaide!

Crystalpall

the F2P PvEr
Hello everyone!

So You might remember The Trial Journal , and if you don't I will add a link to our past issues in a spoiler. Nowadays I don't have time anymore to take care of it, and it's a shame because I would really like TTJ to make a comeback, who knows, maybe in the future :) Anyways I wanted to make a comeback in January so I did an interview with Kincaide , a few days after he got his Moderator rank. I forgot about the interview shortly after because of school and other stuff (sorry Kinc! :( ) but I saw it on my computer today and decided to finally post it alone, without other TTJ stuff.

I hope You'll enjoy it and a big thank You to Kincaide for the interview :)

Crystal: Hello and welcome Kincaide! It's nice that you agreed on an interview with the Journal. How are you this evening?
Kincaide: I"m fantastic, yourself?
Crystal: I'm also good ^^
Kincaide: I'm laughing about the fact that in my first word of the interview I've already mis-typed something.
Crystal: To start off, maybe tell us something about your real self? What's your name, how old are you, where are you from?
Kincaide: Oh, you didn't warn me this was going to be a hard-hitting interview! Well my real name is Casey, I'm older than the majority of people on Twink Info, and I was born and raised in Texas.
Crystal: How your adventure with F2P WoW started?
Kincaide: That's a good question. I used to be a guild leader of a raiding guild in Burning Crusade, but a lot of our members didn't like WotLK and they left. After things fall apart, as a leader it can be disheartening, so when my subscription ran out, I let it expire. Several years later when they announced that trial accounts would be unlimited, I thought it would be a good way to be in touch with my old friends again, so I made a few characters on my old home server, Stonemaul. After a month or so, I was curious about what the best gear was I could get as a level 20, and that's how I found Twink Info.
Crystal: So you're an oldschool player. Did you start your F2P experience right when it was announced or a bit later? And what people you used to hang out with in cata?
Kincaide: I think it was within the first week or so. My registration date on TI is August of 2011, and I believe F2Ps came live in early July? That sounds about right. Well when I first came to the site, the biggest thing that I noticed was how the members there had decided to organize themselves onto the same server so they could do things together. Back then, on US servers, there was basically Aerie Peak and little else. I mean, -so- many people on the server. The names I remember fondly are Miindy, Insects, Drunk, Brov, Waterguns, Sabekith, other people who I'm going to feel bad for not mentioning when I'm on the spot, and, of course, Earl and Rhaellia, who were (and in the case of Rhae who still plays, still are) my closest friends.
Crystal: Your tabard (tabard of the scarlet crusade) is one of the most wanted items amongst F2P PvErs that made their characters after cataclysm (or were not interested in getting it while still available). Do you remember the time when you got it? Who helped you?
Kincaide: Oh yeah, I helped me! I used a 7 day free game time, made a DK on Aerie Peak, and ran myself through Scarlet Monastery until it dropped. I'd actually had two characters of mine that I was running, as I have two primary F2P accounts, but after the grueling grind for the first one, I didn't have it in me to keep going. I'm rather lucky that I decided to give the tabard to Kincaide first, as I never ended up using that other character!
Crystal: What's was the best moment in your trial twinking career?
Kincaide: Wow, well there's so many ways I could approach that question. There was the time that myself and a bunch of other Aerie Peak alliance were in a WSG, and we got tangled up in Horde's tunnel, and I swear we were in that tunnel fighting and killing and healing for like a full ten minutes, and I was laughing so hard because I had no idea how we were staying alive that long! Or there was the time that myself and four others decided to group up and run to every flight point in Outlands together. That was an exciting ordeal, but we did it--every point! Or then there was the time that Rhae and I made our way over to Vashj (the zone, not the server) and explored the whole place on our Sea Turtles! Or playing Skull Toss with Rhae on top of the gates of Stormwind back before climbing to places became popular. Yeah I guess most of my best memories had Rhae involved. :D You were probably looking for an answer more along the lines of the best duel I ever had or my greatest farming achievement, but really the moments I've built with my friends are the only things I could really call my best moments.
Crystal: No, I asked for YOUR best moment, the one that you would call your best :) What picture do you have of other users as a moderator?
Kincaide: Well I've only been a moderator for a few days. My picture of each person on the site is the same now as it was last week: that they're each complex, whole, generally decent people who experience the same range of opinions and feelings as everyone else. Everyone has good days and bad, we are all fallible and forgiveable.
Crystal: Why is your main an Arms Warrior?
Kincaide: Kincaide was the first character I made on Aerie Peak, after discovering TwinkInfo. At the time I wanted to be a flag runner, and warriors were pretty strong in that regard, and there weren't a lot of other people playing the class. At the time I was a fury warrior--to the point that my TI signature at the time said "Hell hath no Fury..." But naturally I switched to arms when fury became a third class spec. I've sort of stayed with it ever since.
Crystal: Your answers are all really long and deep, so I think it's time to slowly finish this interview. Oldspike didn't have any questions this time so I'll allow myself to ask two. First one, what's your view on botting in WoW?
Kincaide: For fishing it's cool, for everything else you're just robbing yourself and the others you effect of a legitimate quality experience.
Crystal: Second one, what's your favourite flavor of ice cream?
Kincaide: Ha! This is no joke: I currently have two brands of peppermint ice cream in my freezer because I wanted to determine which brand I thought was better. For real! So funny that you should ask that.
Crystal: peppermint ice cream is the best, I second that ^^.
Kincaide: Allright, peppermint ice cream high fives!
Crystal: Do you know how the quick questions work?
Kincaide: I can guess from the name, :)
Crystal: I'll explain just in case: I'll just say something and you give me first thing that comes to your mind, whatever it might be. Ready?
Kincaide: Go for it.
Crystal: aerie peak
Kincaide: The best!
Crystal: duopaladin?
Kincaide: That's a guy that some other guys didn't like or something, right?
Crystal: Flag carrying?
Kincaide: Better on my druid now than on Kincaide
Crystal: brewmaster monks
Kincaide: Littletiger! My current most played character. I thought all the hatred was towards windwalker so I made a brewmaster and now no one likes them! I'm a little sad about that.
Crystal: hunters
Kincaide: I kind of miss Lil, she was a dynamic personality and -really- knew what she was doing on her character. Knows, not knew. Because she's still playing as far as I know.
Crystal: pet collecting
Kincaide: Since my F2Ps are linked, I made an effort to collect as many pets on my P2P as I could last time I had game time. I am definitely not a pure F2P! :)
Crystal: end of this interview? (yes, it's a quick question, last one)
Kincaide: It has come too soon! But really, I'm honored that you asked me, and I'm sorry it's taken so many months for us to meet up and do it. Thank you!
Crystal: You will be able to read the whole interview in the upcoming Trial Journal, and have a good day :) Thanks.
Kincaide: Thanks a lot, that was fun! Now I'm going to wander back to the forums and put out some fires. I'll see you around!
Crystal: cya and have some easy fires to put out
Kincaide: thanks :)

Pretty good interview tho, I've always liked how you write and the way you conduct the interview; and it's always nice to read about Kincaide c:

I actually have a screenshot of you all showing up at the Stormspire in broken gear somewhere. Although thinking back now It might be gone since I deleted WoW off of my laptop. Ahhh the glory days. Nice read, nice person!
