I've heard a lot of people in this thread say that they think speed pots should be used, since they can be used by everyone, and I've heard one person say that they don't think they should be used, and gave a well supported reason (albeit his own opinion of what he would like the bracket to be) to support that. I think it's clear though that if speed pots had ever been universally frowned upon in the bracket, that is no longer the case. Each time this comes up it seems I see more people on the "what's the big deal" and "everyone can so everyone should" side of the argument.
What I would like to submit to the conversation, though, is that the level of rhetoric between the two sides, if there are still two sides, should be toned down. It's one thing to have an opinion on a two sided argument, but it's something else to vilify the people who hold the opposite opinion... especially when it's clear that that opinions on the topic are not one-sided in the community. If you want to state your reasons why you think speed pots shouldn't be used, in a straightforward and open way as srs has done here, that's great. But I'm getting tired of people calling pot-users "scum" and other bad names. Insults are the last resort of the ineloquent. It makes others feel like they have to go on the defensive, and as a moderator, I don't like seeing anyone being put in a position of being forced to defend themselves over a difference of opinion.
Just keep in mind that everyone's position on this topic is just a personal opinion, and I don't want to see anyone lording their personal opinion over someone else's personal opinion which they have an equal right to hold.
