Shamans at 20

Are they just relegated to purge/shear bots?

I don't see enough tools at 20 for any spec to really be effective outside of wolf and the two mentioned above. No CC or mobility and low damage?

Am I correct?

Nothing more @ arena than a rsham with a dps. Heals like fuck, does actually pretty ok damage now with the 6.1 buff. Largest toolbelt in the bracket.

Ele shit damage, utility is ok with thunderstorm if you know how to use it. Just for fun purposes, not rly worthwhile.

Enhancement also shit damage. Only good side is instant dps abilities, but it's still just shit.

for ppl used to playing the classes in ur sig, its normal that shaman might seem like uneffective class, but i assure u they are very effective.

Oh yeah, that's just me playing my main classes (Spriest since vanilla, feral since BC). I know feral is broken right now, but it's the only 20 I had left over on this account.

So ele damage is bad... is that all damage, or is fulmination alright with high stacks? I loved ele playstyle before the removal of moving LB, I'm just worried about no CC and no damage.

enh and ele are decent.
with guild looms and enchants they can be real good, on pair with most OP f2p classes.

Enh with looms and enchants is like a feral who says "fuck u I dont need stealth to kill you!"

It's not quite the same. Enh has better heals, but 1v1, enh can't blow ppl up on the feral-post-6.0 level. Not even close. It can be done, for sure, but F2P feral has god-tier burst in the right hands.

Shaman is the hardest counter vs priests/paladins/druids/MW healer comps.

Cause its not as simple as most FotM classes, doesnt mean its not better.

Purge spam > shearing correctly = win mosts arenas.

Practically all I play is lvl 20 shaman. Plenty of "tools". You miss out on very little worthwhile abilities between 20 and 29 for restoration.

Rshamans are really good and effective. I did some arenas , warr, rsham with my friend, we beated 29 tea, brew monk, spriest.

SO yeah, its really good.

Awesome feedback, thanks.

I'm not much of a restoration player though, so how different is the damage between a resto's LB and an ele's LB? If restoration does basically the same damage but has ruptured, I'd be interested in trying it out.

(thunderstorm is hard to look past though, after all the fun I've had with it in the past)

Think it hits the same after the buff maybe resto even does more but ele casts it faster.

Shaman in my Sig does 360 LB noncrit (2,5s cast though), 5040 HP, 1038 Healing Surge. Flame Shock ticks for ~65.
Have no ele to compare to but maybe u find one.

ele are somewhat good at the moment. but it wasnt what it was in MoP tho... takes forever to get 15 stacks of lightning shield. I'm getting around 729 damage LB crits and 1.1k healing surge crits

Ok, well that's about what I was expecting.

I'll be stacking haste, so I guess I'll test both resto and ele and see what feels best. It's mostly a choice between thunderstorm and riptide.

I've already made my little dwarf, just gotta resub one last time to get all my looms in the tab. Thanks all for the info!

More like a choice between TS and riptide, +40% healing and defensive dispel. It's really lame that there's really no point going ele unless you just wanna knock people down with TS :(

So 0.5 sec cast reduction on LB, fulmination and increased range isn't useful?

I'm leaning towards resto now, and if you tell me a 15 stack fulmination does no damage... then resto it is.

Fulmination does decent damage, but setting it up takes a minimum of 30 seconds. In reality, it'll be hardly even every 1-2 minutes that you can cast a fully charged fulmination. Faster LB and increased range is OK, but the class is just really awful for dpsing now, so better play it where your strengths are and go healer spec. The benefits that elemental gives are very easily outshadowed by even only the +40% healing passive that resto gives. Then there's riptide + dispel on top of that as mentioned.
