heres what i do, as soon as i hit lvl10 i level exclusively via BGs.
everytime i gain a level, i switch XP off and try to get all the good items for the current lvl.
once i acquired all, or most, of the items on my list, i'm turning XP on again and do BGs till the next ding.
i'm really enjoying this because i just looove good items and gearing toons is soo much fun to me.
i can even spend hours just researching on wowhead and such (i miss chardev.org :*( ).
but it became pretty much obsolete because of how fast you gain XP nowadays. reaching a mailbox, log on a 'chanter or bank toon. mailing a scroll to your alt, then relog just to put that scroll on an item that you'll be wearing for ~5minutes, really sucks!
thats why i'm also never been a huge fan of the BoA gear. even faster XP? hell no!
and even worse, it's limiting potential boss drops, Qrewards and what not, to a minimum.
with the few remaining non BoA slots, there are not enough upgrades or alternative gear options, for my taste.
sometimes the grind for a specific item can really be a pita and will take millenniums. so i'm not going max.hardcore after BiS and sometimes skip items for the sake of doing battlegrounds.

tried my luck for a few hours but it wasn't meant to be..
i remember years ago, when i became aware of
Edgemaster's Handguards
at the time when they had expertise and hit on it, i just haaad to make an enhancer shaman just because those gloves were soo frikkin awesome <3 but i'm zoning out..
so, anyone else doing similar stuff? if not you might wanna give it a try! only downside is
that there are not many oponents on the same level, gear wise.
