i think this might seperate the community as a whole that they are divided on different websites

hopefully it will not kill warsongs

yeah just migrated here for games, can't play the 20-29 bracket any more, i need quality games, and if the community splitting is getting in the way of quality twink games....

A couple of really bad seeds were spoiling you guys's apple barrel. It's our hope now that they've weeded themselves out that your community will return to normal. Shane's asked me to keep an eye on things. Because your community is a bit bruised, we're going to try to handle it more delicately for a while. You guys have a chance now to build something strong without a few folks making the whole community look bad. If you need anything from me, my inbox is open.

Bro this bracket thrives off of drama. Ever since Vanilla and BC drama has fueled the bracket to advance in ways that nobody thought imaginable. Overmoderation is hurting our bracket and our fun on this site. I will be plain out honest this site is extremely boring and is not something most people come on when they are not bored. I am going to migrate off this site as well unless serious changes are implemented. There is nothing interesting on here. Who reads a newspaper for example when its extremely boring and not controversial at all? Hardly anyone honestly. The New York Times is so successful because it covers controversial topics and puts itself out there. It is not black and white. The "bad seeds" you have banned or that are no longer on the website are major contributors to the bracket. They are considered "top" players and are very influential to new players. I have posted numerous controversial posts and threads. And look at where I have ended up. I have numerous rogues saying "OMG it's Curley!" and people look up to me. It is my personality that makes me stand out not this black and white boring posts that are posted on this site over and over again. I am a role model in this community through my play and personality.

    Stopped reading at bro.

That's sort of what I'm saying. We're going to try to back off a bit in this forum, we feel like now that the really super vile and hostile people are gone you should be able to carry on without much guidance. I'm all for drama, I've said so before, you can find the post here in this forum in The Soup Thread, please read it. I want you guys to have your own culture and your own flavor... as long as you don't abuse the Code of Conduct in the process. If you feel like you can have your drama without directly insulting each other or using profanity, we'll be fine.

We have to keep an eye towards how hostile does this place appear to be to someone coming to the forums brand new. If you can think in those terms too, then you'll already know when we're going to feel like we have to step in. I'm going to work hard to make sure we're communicating with you that things are getting out of hand, by talking to you before handing out infractions, but I'm asking you all to please work with us on this. As I said before, I'm sure it's possible to find a middle ground where we can provide you the space you want to have, within the boundaries of the mutual respect that Shane wants to promote.

I can't speak to what happened in the past, I wasn't on the team for that. But I can speak to how it's going to be looking forward from here. If you want to hold on to the past, I probably can't change your mind about that. But if you'd like to help build a different future, then let's do that instead.

You weeded out everyone who made the forums interesting. I understand some of you mods/administrators have beef with most of the people who are banned but they kept the 19 forums going. I don't usually get involved with this stuff, but TI has changed. The 19 forums were always active and lately it's the same people asking the same boring questions. Aside from the f2p bracket, 19's are all you have. 19's went to 39s and made that active, then they came back. Also, 19's for the most part run the AH here, so that'll slowly die.

Steps need to be put into place in order to keep this site active. I have no control over what you guys do, but I would recommend starting fresh with everyone. It isn't a coincidence that at the same time people are getting fed up with mods here, another site opens up their forums along with TI gettting DDOS'd. People are unhappy and want change, and I hope you guys can act upon that.

It's unfortunate that I have to be very picky with what I say. If I were to fully express what I felt my post would most likely be deleted and I would possibly get banned.

I hear what you're saying, but you have to understand. What happened in the last couple of days has nothing to do with anyone on the staff having a beef with those users. Indeed it was those users who had a beef with the staff, which they could not let go. However interesting or important they were to the community, that isn't going to give them a free pass to continuously and egregiously violate the CoC. The mods are just doing a job, Some people go out of their way to make that job difficult.

You're right that it's no coincidence that we got DDoSed and BISNation opened its forums. Think about what you just said. We have evidence that the people who were banned were responsible for that DDoS. What you may not have seen is they also horribly spammed our forums--every bracket's section--with vulgar posts calling TI bad names and posting a link to BISNation. I do not know if BISNation is behind all this. I suspect that it's just these four or so troublemakers taking these actions on their own volition, but by associating BISNation with their actions, they are bringing a very dark stain over to a site that a lot of people respect. I believe that Yoube and Hunnybuns would be horrified to learn that their new friends on their forum were responsible for these morally bereft actions, but they haven't come forward to say anything yet.

So clearly these people who got themselves banned by their own actions (threatening Shane, attacking the site, etc) are NOT role models that your community wants to look up to anyway. Whatever problems those guys might have had with one moderator here, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Overall, TwinkInfo has been very good to your community, and I'm here now doing my best to help forge a new accord with you people who remain, who I believe to be more reasonable and mature than the kind of people who would literally try to destroy the place that harbored them and let their community grow here for so many years.

The only thing that this site asks, in return for hosting your community and letting it prosper as much as it has in all these years, is that you simply follow the CoC's guidelines of mutual respect and lack of open hostility. I still believe that that's not too much to ask, for all the good our site has done for your community's ability to organize and grow. Seriously you guys, work with us here. We're on the same side.

I understand everything you're saying and it makes sense. Some of the players who got banned were role models and others were not. Although, the majority of people who were recently banned have some of the biggest impacts inside of the gulch.

If the mods are here to follow the CoC to the tee then the CoC should be changed.

Alright, I feel like we can move forward together then. Keep in mind that at least one of the people banned (Dorigon) is only temporarily banned--and he could appeal that ban at any time if he felt like he could stay within the CoC now. I think that it's very unfortunate that these recent events, which will have a permanent effect on the people who committed it, was initially inspired by a temporary action that could be reversed under the right conditions. It seems a very excessive waste. and I'm truly sorry that they chose to do this, as it was meaningless and unnecessary.

But going forward from here, listen if you have issues with the CoC, you're more than welcome to take that up with Shane. I think that your community would benefit from a more explicit clarification of what is allowed and what is not. As I said earlier, I'm going to encourage the staff to approach issues with words and communication before infractions and bans. We're going to go lighter on this forum and we're going to let you find your own unique voice... as long as it doesn't get too disrespectful or to hostile. I really think we can work together to make this a place you want to hang out in. Just keep your focus on that goal.

I agree with some of the bans, notably Uraflamer and Solipsist, seeing as they were very toxic and rarely contributed anything to the community.

However, the recent ban of Dorigon was unnecessary. He posted an interview and one of the mods shot the messenger.

It's perfectly fine to ban people who are irreversibly bitter, but bear in mind that over moderation shrinks the posting community.

Agreed. I think we'd be willing to consider Dorigon's position if he applied for an appeal.

Blizzard also put their chips into "new subscribers". Now look at their subscription trend, small blips after the x-pacs, but overall much lower numbers of subscribers since the q4 2010 peak of 12 mill. Anybody who runs a WoW-centric site in 2015, banking on NEW members, is making an illogical business decision based on emotions rather than actual numbers. As stated by previous posters, 19s (and twinks in general since 2006) THRIVE on e-drama. You can make the decision to drive your base away, but you'll eventually end up with drastically less eyes seeing your "knucklehead accounts" banner ads, which wouldn't even be there if the site earning money was a non-factor. Not telling anyone what to do here, just pointing out what the numbers are saying.
