Dalaran Fishing Coins

Checking my inventory, i noticed the Dalaran fishing coins are now grey:

example: Antonidas' Silver Coin - Item - World of Warcraft
(always kept this one ; i like the quote)

You can't throw them back into the water to get increased fishing luck,

why are they grey now? the achievement has not been grandfathered, so blizzard just removed the buff those coins gave?

As I remember only gold coins have the ability to be thrown back and give you the buff for extra chance on coins

For example Anduin Wrynn's Gold Coin - Item - World of Warcraft

Therefore the achievement should still be attainable.

You can still complete the archievement tho-- blizz has just changed their appearance -- nothing else !

Yeah "Hey" is right, in fact that particular Antonidas coin was always grey. I thought it changed, because old items when grandfathered or "removed" ingame often get their rarety changed to grey (like the rogue poisons, etc).

Only the gold coins are white text I believe. Also, again, only the gold coins can be tossed back

Is a starter account with 375 fishing skill, the weather beaten fishing hat (+75) and a +30 fishing pole able to actually fish up the coins? I've gotten the magic eaters (along with junk) while fishing for the sewer rat companion. I haven't tried the fountain very much, just wondering if it's possible. Thanks!

Yup, I know for a fact you can get it with 300 fishing.

Absolutely, I fished up all the coins with my F2P rogue.

All it is takes is time.
If it is the Salty title you are after, you can catch the dark herring in Northrend as well. That is what I caught for my title. There may be better options nowadays.

It may interest some folks that I did this on my linked F2P several months ago and expected the Titanium Seal of Dalaran to just vanish from my mailbox after 30 days. However, it seems that whatever process Blizzard have used for account-wide toys/heirlooms in patch 6.1 made it pop up for me when I resubbed. (It comes in handy when people are arguing about flamethrower/boat groups.)

Reading the funny, often ironic, flavor text was something that stopped me going insane while doing this.

If I recall when I did it on my lvl 20 I had to end up getting it from the toy vendor in Dalaran. It took several GM tickets. This was long before the toy box feature was implemented. You may have to go that route.

Underbelly Elixir - Item - World of Warcraft Hungry Tuskarr gives +50 fishing and you can usually find a few in the sewers.

I got it in about 2 hours the other day on my rogue. Was pretty simple, just had a Weather Beaten Fishing Hat on and Trial Max'd fishing.

The reward automatically is added to your Toy Box now, and is no longer something you can go get from the vendor nor do you get it in the mail.
