Math and respective BIS gear for MW Monks.

Snowjobs

  • So i have been meaning to do this for a while but here is a math breakdown on MW heals. if there is enough desire i may do this for other classes.
    When ever you see "HPS" this stands for "heals per second" similar to DPS.

    soothing mist formula (for HPS ) is (note 5% = .05 ect.)

    spellpower*SPC*(1+.5*crit)*(1+.6*multistrike)*(1+h aste)*(versatility+1)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
    ( 8 sec)

    Looking at this guy we can see that the biggest increase to heals will come from pure int (run some numbers if u want to see for yourself)

    next we can see that haste and versatility have an equal effect along with stats (just for consideration of hunter pets) --------- but because versatility isn't on our gear this means for gear available to us haste is the most beneficial secondary stat for this spell (still not as good as intellect though)

    next we have enveloping mist

    spellpower*SPC*(1+.5*crit)*(1+.6*multistrike)*(1+h aste)*(versatility+1)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
    ( 1.5 sec)

    basically the same formula even though it is a hot . note there is no second component to haste in the denominator due to us not having the focus and harmony passive from lvl 46 .

    finally we have surging mist.

    AP* APC *(1+.5*crit)*(1+.6*multistrike)*(versatility+1)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
    ( 1.5 sec)

    this guy is currently fucked up by blizzard as it is based of of attack power as of like early november.
    why is this bad ? well the passive that converts our in to ap is at lvl 46 ........... makes sense right? .......... also this is why stance of the spirited crane sucks so bad.

    so when your looking at this spell it will always heal the same number -+ 1
    because haste doesn't reduce the gcd, it doesn't effect this at all in any way shape or form.

    so the question is will haste not effecting surging mist make crit better over all?
    from some comment on wow head.com it seems the APC is about 2.9 for surging mist which makes sense.
    from Dataz on base stats for those who care. (Wod)
    we see that the base AGI for a monk (nelf) is 80 so it will heal for around 232 ish or 229 isn for any other race.

    Assuming we have the rotation.
    soothing (on an enveloped target )
    surging
    surging
    surging
    enveloping

    from my spreadsheet at 200 sp and 5% haste we get
    375.9 HPS *6.5 sec
    230 x3 from surging
    1683.2 from enveloping
    totaling 4816.55

    or at 200 sp and 5% crit we get
    366.9 HPS * 6.5 sec
    235.75 x3 from surging
    1623 from enveloping
    totaling about 4713

    so yeah haste over crit is now clear even with it not effecting surging

    but now whats bis ? nobles belt or belt of vision . haste trinket or int trinket . well using the previous formulas here is the bis gear for max healing mistweaver. with proof for possibly controversial pieces shown below.

    Head
    Eypatch (A) lfh (H)
    Jc necklace (A)(H)
    jp shoulders (A)(H)
    sorcerer cloak (A)(H)
    jp chest piece (A)(H)
    Owl Bracers (H)(A)
    Dignified Headmasters Charge (H) (A)
    Serpent Gloves (H) (A)
    Belt of vision (H)(A)
    Silk threaded trousers or equivalent with spirit (H)(A)

    Seal of Argas (H) (A)
    Lavish jewled ring (H)(A)
    PVP trink (H) (A)
    Int trink (H)(A)

    Breakdowns (all of these numbers come from me in my standard survival set swapping in both pieces, taking the numbers, putting them into a spreadsheet with the formulas i showed earlier, and just recording the numbers)
    note: if you want to see the breakdown for any pieces not shown just ask and ill gladly run them when i have time.

    First number is HPS Of Soothing mist
    second number is HPS of Enveloping
    for some pieces i didn't have on my monk i used my druid and in bg stats on it to compare

    JP chest VS haste chest from bfd

    JP = 309 and 1185
    Haste = 303 and 1162

    Belt of vision vs Nobles belt

    vision = 312 and 1197
    nobles = 311 and 1195

    hero's = 309 and 1185

    BFD pants vs Silk threaded

    BFD pants = 309 and 1185

    Lavish Jeweled ring vs Dpr

    Lavish = 302 and 1158
    DPR = 297 and 1140

    Jp mace and tome vs Headmasters charge

    Mace and tome = 314 and 1207
    Headmasters Charge= 320 and 1229

    Haste trink Vs int Trink

    Haste = 321 and 1233
    int trinket 331 and 1270

    pls tell me if i missed a comparison you would like or something . Like and comment ect.

    mind posting your stats with hovel diggers and with crystalline cuffs ?
    i got to check owl bracers as well now that i think about it

    with owl bracers at 7 int it will stomp on hovel diggers and uninsured bracers at 3 and 4 but i wouldn't mind throwing in a comparison for crystalline vs hovel diggers just so we know whats bis if you don't want to go that glassy

    Nice thread, any info about the loss of survivability due to losing armor class for some of the closely balanced piece? Idk how armor works in WoD so not sure how much of a considerations this would be. Thanks for the info btw.

    Math isn't hard. It's mostly just flip-flopping. Not really different than any other type of logic. If you can build a structured argument, you can do math (which explains why a lot of people can't do either, lol).

    Identifying the problem is probably the hardest part, when it comes to real life. Like doing WoW maths. I'm pretty sure I know how to do it. But I'm just not sure where to start. Knowing what to do and when comes with experience. The hard part is caring about it enough to go past Calc 1 (which I do not).
