29 Paladin PROTribution

Re: 29 Retribution Paladin, STRENGTH build

So, after experimenting with Prot in skirmishes, and with the SM Single Target Dummy, I've decided Prot isn't working as well as I wish it would, but that said, I'm gonna make a separate Prot Pally twink for BGz and such.

Meanwhile, somebody rate my STRENGTH-based 29 Ret Paladin! Lemme know what you think. I've not found much Crit happening even when I'm wearing all my Crit gear, so I'm going old-school, stacking strength. One concession is with the neck, to give a nice chunk of extra Stam at the expense of just 2 STR...

Low hp, low crit, no AGM, odd gear choices, wrong cloak enchant.

5/10

Fair enough. Wish you'd be more specific about the 'odd gear choices'. Maybe you are meaning my Goblin Engineering Mining Helmet! I was messing with my Engineering today, got it up to 225... I like to Tmog, so the helm is fun. My Dad (RIP) was a construction worker back in the daze, so... and I thought, wouldn't it be great to get a pick axe to mog the 2H'er with, and solo's Stocks, Hogger dropped it first time! Main reason I choose the high-strength Mail chest and legs is because I like to mog, and ya can't mog the damn'd heirloom plate stuff.

I said up front that this is a strength-based build. I have tons of gear, including most of the 'BiS' current gear, no AGM, no, and not really planning to work on that one. Wish it'd give me some Strength, aye!

I've put some of my more 'normal' gear back on. Its hard for me to justify giving up Strength for Crit when, even with higher crit gear, I'm not critting that often, and Crit has been cut to 150%... So my thinking is, maybe its better to go with Strength... but I'm sure there's a balance point in there.

What cloak enchant would you suggest?

youre ret so it should be fine mlg/10

Prot is weak atm and honestly surprised to see the amount of f2ps/29s still playing it.

Crit is the best way to go along with decent amount of HP. you heals are OP as feck which also benefits from your crit.

basically crit > stam > str. Also get double agm.

for ret getting beefy and switch weapons on crusader procs for mad dmg is the best way to go tbh.
Thanks! For clarification, define "getting beefy", lmao.

In regard to switching weapons, I have both strength heirloom 2H's (the sword and the axe), and both have Crusader enchant. Which one would you switch in/out? (I know how to macro the switch, so that's not part of the question...)

Use axe with crusader on it, when it procs, switch to 2nd axe with either crusader for 2x proc, or with some kind of AP/Str enchant

look at the armory i linked, that more or less explains it. get a lot of stamina.

as for weapon switches, i would probably run double sword just because i feel like str does so much more for you than crit does atm.
