Why, oh why?

The last few days have offered me an opportunity to some free time to play a few games. My observation... At the first cap one of two things happen, mass AFK or the team gives up entirely. It might be only (5) minutes into a game and with a hard fought cap or only (3) min and a not so hard cap. Maybe even a few deaths in a mid clash, not a wipe. Often the game is even won by the team that lost the first cap. And those are the best games for both sides, win or lose. Is it players wanting an easy win?( I thought players wanted "competitive" games. Or just the defeatist attitude in general?

Please keep replies mature, clean and on topic. (i.e. if you would be embarrassed for your Mother to read it, don't post it.)
All replies that are "trolling" and not on topic will be reported.

The AFKing is strong on Horde side.
First flag win then loosing the game? --> GY farming. "hey we're winning - let's relax and farm sum nooobz!" Suddenly the noobs manage to gather and act as a blob that steamrolls over the "winning" (hello Charlie!) team that starts to AFK like bosses.

One thing I learned the last few weeks: if alliance has no healer, they're usually incredibly dangerous and tend to develop a better teamplay. Why ever.

Just some observations.

It depends on the performance and communication of your team. There is no hard and fast rule.

For me, if I am led to believe it is going to be a frustrating game (and I'll get frustrated) I'll usually bounce. Not always. And not always after a cap. But you can get a pretty good feel for the game early on. If nobody is playing the objectives, even after a *hint, hint, nudge, nudge* or making a move towards doing so, well...I don't tend to stick around in what I deem a terrible or aggravating game.

If I feel I'm wasting my time, in a pastime where I waste my time... well it's high time to do something else then, no?

That is the issue, there was no "farming"... There were a couple attempts. Just heal right on through Farming attempts.

It happens in 90 random bgs too... I have no suggestions. I used to try and try no matter the overwhelming odds. I would die 20x in a game trying to get a return when I was going in 1v5 and nobody else on my team would even attempt to help... Now I am not as much of a tryhard. I don't normally afk out, but I might find something else to do in the bg instead.

Myself, I am well past letting the game aggravate me. That is why I don't care if I lose. That is not to say I do not want to win, but what happens if I lose? Same thing that happens after I win, I queue up for another game. I suggest everyone do the same. You will have so much more fun.

i quit 2 some bgs, not mutch but...
if i see that the dps always stay behind the healz or u got 3 heals and 1 after 1 die in focus and no1 care about it..i dont care about heal, switch to holy dps or leave the battleground.

I don't get enjoyment out of mid clashing. I don't get enjoyment out of aimless DPS-fests or healer circle jerks. It has nothing to do with winning or losing. I'm there to play an objective, that's my fun. If nobody else wants to play my way, then I remove myself. Far easier than trying to convince people to do things my way. Or trolling (this coming from a former huge BG troll, Inoob had nothing on me). I can retry another time to find people who want to play the game like me. I have plenty of fun my way.

Thanks for the tip though!

I actually like it when my teammates afk after the first cap, it's obviously the unwanted people the ones that afk first. (Understanding unwanted as any of the following: bad geared, just care for their win/loss ratio, unable to communicate, not willing to try, and others among the same line).
Yes, it's a disadvantage to have less players for a short period of time, but if blizz hurries and gives us more people, at least from my experience, the games tend to go better, with people that at least are willing to do something to not lose a bg (no, i dont mean farm them back), so they usually end in good games.

If, at the end, we lose.. well, we were going to lose anyways. To me, it's always worth the try.

This is a very good point. Drad and I queued together not too long ago and the team was down 0-2. He and I went across and he took the flag and capped quickly. Then the alliance team started to secure the win, I returned 3 flags in 5 minutes and Drag capped 2 more for a 3-2 win. That doesn't always happen though. The person/s that afk sometimes get replacements that are geared worse than the others.

Oh I know who you are.... hehehe... WE have been around for quite some time.
There is nothing wrong with playing the game "your style" . That makes it fun for you. That is what makes the game what it is, an MMO. Different personalities and "styles" of play mixing together. That is why PvP is more dynamic than PvE. Not to say that it is more difficult, just more dynamic.

Winning losing games are the best!!

As far as /afk goes:
1) Playing the game takes time. I tend to block some time out to play, but if that gets interrupted for any reason--I leave the game. Sometimes I only have a short time to play. If the game isn't over by the time my timer goes off--I leave the game.

2) Playing the game is supposed to be fun. GY farming on either side is not fun. Extreme imbalance on either side is not fun. No healers or controllable melee is not fun. If it isn't fun, I leave the game. Super Hexagon is fun every time, recently broke 70 seconds on hyper hexagonest.

+1 to this.

It's bad enough that there are already 6-8 hunts & rogues on the alliance team (9 out of 10 games on either faction for me at least), but when they all sync up & start pumping full-bore DPS into anything that moves, that can water down the morale really fast for the team on the receiving end of it.

When I AFK, I try to do it before the gates come up, and pretty much only when pugging (although there have been exceptions). I do it for several reasons:

1.) My team comp. Whatever class I'm playing, I prefer to have no more than 2 of that class (unless it's a hybrid class & there's a wider representation of specs present). 3 or more rogues on my team while I'm on rogue, though? I'm out;

2.) BGT. I love this add-on, but it's led me to abort a ton of games right before the match starts. Usually it has to do w/ the color saturation of green & yellow. That comp is rarely fun to play with or against & i wish it would stop being so damn prevalent on both factions; and, here's the big one for me...

3.) My team's communication. If ppl aren't talking at all, or /bg chat is exclusively in Portuguese, no thanks. If it's Spanish, I'll do my best to play the role of Honorary Jaja, because I do speak a bit of that. Usually, when I leave for this reason, it's after first mid clash has seen us all blown up with nary a peep from anyone on our team. Hard to play an objective-based game under those circumstances.

2) Playing the game is supposed to be fun. GY farming on either side is not fun. .

Well stated...
Raging and yelling in text is not fun either... Well actually, sometimes reading some of the vitriol is quite amusing.
BTW, good games last night versus you. I will be queueing again tonight on both sides depending on Alliance queue times. Perhaps our paths will cross again!!

Four games so far tonight. Not one fresh. Everyone I entered into was a 2-0 losing game. Just take your losses and move on people.

edit..Make that seven now...
Do people not realize that one cap is still essentially still 0-0 since the next cap wins?tsk tsk tsk

I think the lack of effort makes em afk, people hate alliance rogues/hunters only for the "skill patch " and people hate 24 horde premades.

And also since deserter is like 5 min, more and more people leave because you dont have to wait as long as before to get into a fresh, new bg.

And gy farming also makes people say "You guys suck, learn to play, stupid alliance/horde, no skill required for that faction" and many more, then leave all pissed off like if something was up their butt beause they can't handle losing

Or maybe they gotz to do things.
