Ideas for Community Driven Events

I've noticed that over time, a good amount of people lose interest in playing f2p so I wanted to create a thread for discussing any possible idea for community driven event(s). I've been playing f2p for quite a while and my most fun and memorable moments were during these types events, like the Hellfire Fortifications Event back in October of 2012 and the various arena tournaments.

I would be very open help set up an arena tournament and, hell, I'd be willing to throw in $10-$20 for a prize pool. I also think it would be rather interesting to get 10 20s and go raid some high level elite mobs just for the hell of it like, like level 1 twinks would do back in the day.

This was more of a discussion thread. I'd like to know what others would be interested in.

Arena Tournament sounds like it would be a great idea - Possible to set baseline class load-outs(predetermined gear sets of easy to obtain quest/dungeon gear) to encourage the F2PS who haven't fully finessed their character and to tone down certain classes that may pose a threat of being "2 OP".

I'm sure those are details that could be worked out if we do manage to organize an arena tournament, I'd certainly like to give newer players a chance but I'd also like to not punish people for having better gear that they worked really hard hard for. However, in the end, if you're upset about the balance, this probably was never the bracket for you anyways. xD

So far, this thread hasn't received much attention so I'm skeptical whether or not it can happen.

Getting the average f2p to play arenas is like pulling teeth. The open world pvp events always had a great turnout though.

With all the hunters in this bracket I'd love to see WPvP.

Yeah i wouldn't view it as punishment per se due to the whole reason for the event would be for competition/prizes and a deterring factor would be the daunting gear grind to get bis to compare with the veterans, I wouldn't have a problem if there was no gear restriction was just my two cents to help solve/stop a probable problem to arise in the future if the arena tournament was to be organized.

I doubt many of the geared/bis twinks would have a realistic problem with having to downgrade to be on-par gear wise as their competitors.

Why would they? It is expected of the subscribers in the bracket each and every day.

World PvP or a "boss" kill may be best. Remember, hit is going away soon and trials may even have access to Pandaria. Which in turn, will give them access to, gasp, portals and Outland. If it exists how it is today. I can remember when I was a part of WHU(warcraft Hunters Union) we used to take down the Fel reaver rather regularly on our 19's. But, we had an enormous amount of people attacking.

I've always wanted to kill FR with a ton of 20s. It doesn't seem likely that we'd get that many people in one spot, but it's definitely something that would be hilarious to pull off.
