Yetimus MM

  • Was just goofing off in Hillsbrad, farming herbs on a 90 when I saw someone in chat ask for help killing Yetimus. I volunteered, got inv, went over & clobbered him.

MM drops, along w/ some random green.

The two mages I was helping had no idea why I was so excited. One rolled need & he won it. They were both 21+ lvl. I had no use for it on that toon & he actually had no shoulders equipped, so I just congratulated him & went on my way...to Wowhead, because I wanted to check the loot tables for both Yetimus & MM. I checked both twice & saw nothing about him dropping that particular item.

I know F2P can't use general chat, so getting into a quest group to kill him would be unlikely, but If a they got grouped into a party by someone & then went there as a group & farmed him for a while, this might make for an alternative to just chest farming/hoping if it drops in a dungeon that some idiot doesn't roll need on it when it'll be useless to him in 2 hrs. Yetimus seems to respawn every 2 minutes or so, and that's a hell of a lot quicker than the chests do. Just mind the knockback...

I forgot to take a screenshot, so I'll understand if anyone's skeptical about it, and I won't have any free time to farm him for another 3-4 days to test for myself.

I tried searching threads here to see if anyone else has posted it. I didn't see anything just skimming through & I'm in a hurry to get ready for work, so sorry if it's been brought up already.

If anyone wants to try this, please update w/ any results.

Any world creature is capable of dropping its level appropriate world Boe blue drops.

MM- Item Level 25-a creature ranging from levels 23-27 is most likely to drop it, with elites having a higher chance(thats why you see them dropping in dungeons more).

Chests simply offer you a guaranteed 100% chance of a blue.

Farming ''elite'' mobs ranging from level 23-27 would yield similar results as farming yetimus

I just helped some quest leveler kill Yetimus yesterday. He ended up dying by fall damage, and I killed him. Not that hard to find Yetimus if someone is asking for help to kill him in chat.

"I got <item> killing spiders in Hillsbrad." -Random WoW noob

    "I bought/sold <item> for X gold." -Random WoW noob

Possibly the same noob, but as noobs are random, it's impossible to say for sure who was the first to start that trope.

Yeah, you're right. I just figured w/ the elite/quick respawn/short patrol path, that some might find it appealing. Still looking forward to farming him for a bit when I get the chance though, because I kinda have a farming addiction.

This might be worth leveling a f2pdk for. Perhaps some sort of bot is in order.

Inoob, I think you forgot the part about hunters and rogues dominating the bracket of farming elites

It's never Yetimus himself that kills me. It's the dozens of random weak mobs he eventually blasts me into.

You can put your back to a mountain, cliff, tree or better yet a cave to either mitigate fall damage or prevent it.
    Good luck !

Was the person asking in chat Altarßoy?

Sorry for slow response, but no. It was 2 Belf mages w/ really Belf-RP-type names from Quel'Dorei, iirc. Been working/sleeping pretty much the last 3 days & expected this thread to die out really quick.

Inoobupro's response pretty much reminded me of stuff I knew, but forgot to think about like I should have before posting, because he's 100% right. I just got excited about a possible alternative because I hate chest farming/dungeon needtards & forgot to check myself before getting carried away. Cheers!
