Question about Explore Northrend F2P Achievement

Hello all,

I was doing Explore Northrend (Borean Tundra, Grizzly Hills, Howling Fjord, and Zul'Drak down) but I got stuck in Dragonblight because I need to reveal Naxxramas. I couldn't find a way up there when I looked around. Has anyone done this solo or do you absolutely need someone to fly you up there? Please respond quickly as I really would like to get the Tabard of the Explorer by the end of this week. Also, if you have any tips for other difficult areas in Northrend please post them here.

Thank you very much,

You will eventually need assistance for the tabard. Naxx is impossible to reach alone at level 20 (need a flying mount). However, when you do find the kind soul to help you out take not that there are also a few other spots that require flying mounts as well!

->Half of Storm Peaks requires you to be flown up/summoned to it in order to discover the majority of the zone
->Temple of Storms in Storm Peaks is unreachable without the help of a flying mount/summon.
->The Maker's Overlook in Scholazar Basin requires flying mount/summon (unless you are planning on doing severe wall jumping via The Avalanche, like I did)

Apart from that, enjoy exploring :)

Feel free to add any "fly mount only spots" to my little list if I forgot any to help out Droobie!

It's definitely possible to do Explore Northrend as a solo 20 with no help/flying/summons, I've done it. Just be ready to die a lot, and plan your course of action beforehand (it helps if you have some familiarity with the zones). You should be able to reveal Naxxramas from some point on the ground in the area, without actually getting up to the instance itself. Unfortunately I can't remember where I was when I got credit (sorry, this was months ago), but I know I didn't have any trouble. Make sure you have all the surrounding areas done, sometimes that will fill in neighboring areas as well. Otherwise, you may have to wander aimlessly for a while until you can find the sweet spot.

A few other tips:

Storm Peaks: If your Hearthstone is unavailable (banked/destroyed/on cooldown) you can use the unstuck feature to kill yourself. This is very useful in conjunction with the ghost flying mount in order to get to hard-to-reach areas such as Frosthold and Ulduar. Get as close as you can normally, kill yourself, use ghost flying to resurrect a little closer, and so on. Also, there is a very small area near the base of Temple of Storms (at ground level, southwest of Engine of the Makers) that will give exploration credit.

Sholazar: You can access The Avalanche and The Makers' Overlook easily from Icecrown if you go through the mountains by Jotunheim and the Fleshwerks. You can also get to Wintergrasp this way (though you will get instantly booted out if the battle is in progress). To get The Stormwright's Shelf you need to swim around the edge of the continent from Borean Tundra. From there you can drown yourself, resurrect on top of the cliffs at the graveyard, and drop down to The Maker's Perch.

Those were some of the more complicated/tricky parts I remember doing. If you have other questions about specific areas I can try and help out with those too. Good luck!

It is possible without flying mount. Im not gona tell you what to do on every hard spot because i simply dont remember all it was long ago i did it. But i do remember this video helpt me with one of the hard to reach spots, maybe it will help you aswell.

For Maker's Overlook, easiest way is to die on the island northwest of Icecrown, then take rez sickness and run down the mountain next to you where you spawn in Icecrown, you can land on Maker's Overlook and get the Achiev, That's how I did it anyway.

Basicaly it will take like 12 hours non-stop to do it with a druid. You can explore everything alone , you have to use the stuck button lotta times :) , you you will need to delete your hearthstonne , If Hearth is in shathrah city... delete and get it back with item restoration.

I will also confirm this can be done without a "living flying mount." In most places, you will be given a flying mount when you are dead for flying back to your body.

If you run into problem, use wowhead.com. Alot of p2p players already comment on how to reveal certain high places without having to fly there.

I will start your off: Northrend - Zones - World of Warcraft

If you google it there was once a way to take control of a flight path mount. It might still be around.

To all who replied to this thread,
Thank you very much for posting that it was possible to do this achievement solo and some tips for hard to reach places like Maker's Overlook and Temple of Storms. (On that note, I hope to never see Storm Peaks ever again) ><. I had a lot of fun doing this achievement and would like to thank you again for helping me out when I needed it. :D
