How did you get the GM to get you Stone Guard Greaves?! My pally needs that badly, I noobishly took the belt thinking the armor might be useful. Please share your ways

I just used my powers of reason. I wasn't even trying to trick him. I was just trying to get a good answer for why the quest rewards were removed from RFC for Horde. Scene: Early pre-MoP
GM: "Hi, I'm GM X. How my I serve you my liege?"
Me: "Well I just completed all the quests in RFC, and Wowhead says there was supposed to be a quest reward from 'The Dark Shaman', but I was never offered one."
GM: "Yeah, I don't see you ever receiving a gear reward from any of the RFC quests. That's weird. Activsion forced us to hire a bunch of MBAs, and they are doing some really weird crap around here. The people that used to fix these sorts of problems are all working at different developers now. You wanted the pants?"
Me: "Yeah, are you guys planning on adding gear reward back into the horde quest, you know, being that it's a Horde dungeon?"
GM: "Man, I don't know Bobby Kotick has got us running in circles working on a new Guitar Hero peripheral that will be required to raid in the next expansion.
Me "Huh, that's weird. Well good luck with that."
GM:" Alright, since you actually never chose a gear reward, I was able to just make you a copy of the pants and put them in your bags. Is there anything else I can do for you today?"
Me "Really? Awesome! No man, I'm good. Thank you so much.You are a gentleman and a scholar. Godspeed."

If you completed the quest, and took the wrong reward, you are pretty much screwed. Sorry to say. You can always try, but I don't know of too many stories of people getting to swap out gear rewards from quests.
However, since you're Holy. I would recommend just rolling another Strength based Paladin. I'm not to sure about Alliance, but at least for Horde, there are way too many quest gear conflicts to come up to with anything near BiS gear sets for both. Most everyone just makes two pallies, unless they just don't GAF about BiS.
I got a swap once, lucky me.
They are sneaky bastards. They will literally wait until you go offline to respond to tickets, so they can give you one of their canned responses. I would say your best bet is to be online when you know they are working, which I suppose would be somewhere between 8am–5pm Pacific Daylight Time. Also, for complex requests, try not to do it when you know they are busy, e.g. right before, or after, a big patch, or like right now when they are dealing with the Hearthstead fiasco.
These are just my theories, so take them with a grain of salt, but I've never had a reasonable request turned down.
