Fly your name to an asteroid!

Hello there fellow TI members and readers,

I've started to this topic to let you know about an awesome project I recently heared about. There's this project called the OSIRIS-REx mission which is an unmanned robotic that is going to be send into space and scrape bits of an asteroid. Now you might think, ok and why is that interesting for me? Well you can enter your name on the website I'll link bellow and then you have a chance that your name will be put inside the return capsule. How awesome is that, your name into space.

Your name will be in space for about 2 years and then it will return to earth.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

I have a typical dutch name so I doubt there are a lot of people with the same name haha. I just like the idea that somewhere my name is written inside a space robot that is scraping bits of an asteroid.

Well everyone is entitled to their own opion but I still don't see any reason why you think it's stupid, could you tell me why you think it's stupid or a waste of time?

exactly. basically you put your name aboard a spacecraft (on what, a piece of paper? engraved? on a usb stick?) and it flies to and from an asteroid. big whoop.
even if you got your name engraved on a piece of asteroid - which op claims they will do, but i see no mention of on the provided link - so what. gotta wait years n years for a tiny space rock with your name on it. you can go find/buy meteroite pieces and engrave ur name on it if thats all u want, and without the wait. but either way i find it stupid
