Trying to choose a class

Texx.

Legend
Im bouncing between either a lock or a mage... Im looking for the class/specs and their benefits, im well aware that destro has high burst, frost has intense cc, demo counters melee, etc, i would like to know about the unconventional specs, like affliction... does it do dmg and pressure well? and also a question about frost, can it pull good/decent dmg? These are just questions i have and also, which class seems to be overall more skill oriented? Which class is more enjoyable... Your responses will decide my class choice :)!! Thanks in advance!!!

EDIT: ive also been thinking of possibly making a 24 ele shamman... opinions are welcomed.

Depends on situations.

Mages and Warlocks don't excel 1v1, but in BG's they can tear it up.

Personally i'd rather have a mage on my team!

ele sham or shadow priest

and prot pally and hunter. anything else is honestly slightly irrelevant. nobody should talk about mages being op honestly thats a joke, anyone average at prot pally/hunter/spriest/ele sham/feral/rogue can trash the fuck out of a mage unless u got 2 healers being partied with you. and locks are DEFINATELY not that strong.

^ This. Doesn't mean you can't perform on a Mage, but you literally have no defensive options. It's Burst or Be Bursted. In addition, even if you've managed to blow them up, you have zero way of recovering lost health(quickly enough for the next engagement or to avoid death by Rogue or collateral damage) unless accompanied by a healer. Heal hut? Hopefully. Bandages? Almost irrelevant. Heaven forbid you have a DoT on you(i.e. Serpent Sting critting for 300 a tick).Severely lacking in the defense department. I may top damage on my Mage, but I'm extremely vulnerable.

Depends if you solo queue or not. But I solo queue on my arms warrior and still do decent. Play what is fun for ya.

What about boomkins?

What about boomkins?

boomkins still got a lot of room to lose to mage, at least frost. you'd have to be like geared for the duel with a decent amount of stam that you would normally not use, suffering the dps loss in order to survive a mage. using scrolls is another story too

Lock is really fun! I've been playing mine these last couple weeks, and I've had a blast. Squishy yes, but you can still do great in bgs. 1v1 are not too bad either, just gotta time succubis' lash of pain and conflags :p
