Hey guys!

I made this thread cuz i want one answer to this fucking problem which i might be too stupid to figure out.

Here it is: How do i post a link on here, like for example on my signature so it redirects to my toons but the link is shortened to what i want to type, so like instead of Shamanpow @ Eldre'Thalas - Community - World of Warcraft i could just say "Shamanpow"

Again i know this might be such a stupid question, but i just cant seem to get through it >.<

What you do is, you take the url you want, then in the reply box, click on the "link" button and copy paste the url.

You get this:
URL="http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/eldrethalas/Shamanpow/advanced"]http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/eldrethalas/Shamanpow/advanced[/URL
(I left the beginning "[" and ending "]" out)
Then, change the 2nd http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/eldrethalas/Shamanpow/advanced to whatever you want, in this case Shamanpow.

You get this:
URL="http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/eldrethalas/Shamanpow/advanced"]Shamanpow[/URL
(I left the beginning "[" and ending "]" out)

For what you're describing, try typing the text below, without the spaces:

[ url=http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/eldrethalas/Shamanpow/advanced ]Shamanpow[ /url ]


With the above, you'll get Shamanpow.



In general, if you want to hyperlink *insert words* to a given URL (without spaces):

[ url=URL ]*insert words*[ /url ]

does the job.

An easier way to do this, incidentally, is to write the word "Shamanpow", then go back and highlight the text, and with it highlighted, hit the Link button in the text entry box. It will ask you to enter the URL, and automatically convert the highlighted text into the requested link.

One thing you can also do is change the color to the original blizzard color. Like this

If you don't like looking at forum code, and want a WYSIWYG Editor, go to Settings>My Account>General Settings>Miscellaneous Settings>Message Editor Interface (yeah, it's pretty buried). It's not as precise as forum code, but you can see the changes you are making, instead of living in bracket hell. You got to have javascript enabled for it to work.
