Contrary to assa spec, sub get a buff in 5.4, Elemental force has a RPPM so i don't know how you have done your test but it can't make a big difference.
I have done some quick maths and the hemorrhage buff won't make dagger better than 1 handed weapon, the difference will actually increase to bring 1 handed even better
To conclude Dancing steel will proc on hemorrhage dot, wich mean you will, only as a sub, be able to get procs on wounded targets while you are stealth to actually too shot them for 24 sec. With subterfuge it is just imba (Ambush emo -> run away, come back then 2 shot if procs).
So i know this is not the right place to debate but i think Sub will be THE spec in 5.4, wich means Shadowfang still BiS, this is my opinion.

oh jesus here we go. elemental force procs a shit load with daggers, even on throws in 10 secs you can get like 4 or 5 procs 500 damage, if you want i can show you on ptr. you can do all the math you want but till you see it you will know, i have done every spec and enchant set up, assassination is way better, if youd like i can show you on ptr

The only problem is that you only consider the DPS you are seeing on recount, you don't consider the fact poping with 1500 embush and 1500 evisc can (eventually) surprise your target, and the most important thing to remember is the procs on hemorrhage, even if you switch target you will have it all the time with you.
naw i didnt use recount nor do i, it was based off me dropping one of each class, prot warrior, paladin, holy paly casting heal same with other healer classes, i did every test possible, sub just falls short
ive ran tests with other rogues and mine, the ambush increase isnt actually that much of a damage increase, and within a second ive already passed up the extra damage you would get. with assassinations increase poison application plus the redic procs from elemental force people will drop like flies, and if someone tries to run away elemental force also procs on thrown so if you have poison on target plus thrown every few seconds you can do around 400 damage from just thrown, sub will have to crutch on dancing that doesnt have an chance to do extra damage just a damage increase.
