Connected Realms in 5.4

This is an improvement to the crz. Don't have an impact on farming, agm etc, since realms were already connected, but now u can trade, join guilds etc cross realm, not useable for f2p's ofc........

Isn't that what they have tried to do already? to crz high pop with low pop to balance the servergroups?
 
It's possible this will also impact competition for things like the fishing tournament. As of now you compete with players from just your realm for 1st/2nd/3rd place, but after this is implemented you may very well end up competing with connected-realm players as well. Now obviously no one knows for sure yet and I'm just speculating here, but it might not hurt to start farming that DPR or whatever you're after sooner rather than later.

On a different note I'm sure everyone is eager to find out which realms will be connected. I know a lot of us on dead (or at least F2P-inactive) realms would love to see a few more 20's around town once in a while. I personally am pretty optimistic about this feature and am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
 
I've been looking forward to this for awhile, I'm hoping it turns out to effectively be extra character slots on realms I'm already set up on with heirlooms etc.

I don't understand how it will break cross-realm AGM farming. Very few realms are low pop in regards to AGM, really just the couple non-CRZ RP-PvP servers. Connected Realms aren't consolidating WoW into single servers. They'll start out small and probably expand it gradually, but it'll be a long time before it grows beyond the scope of what CRZ is now. It'll most likely allow trade between smaller groups of realms that are already part of the same existing cross realm groups (decided by server type/data center).
 
Looking forward to it. If BGs are stupid with new enchants then world PvP will be viable.

Could organise some serious wars

PvP realms cant connect with PvE realms...

Seems like good idea, hope mag gets a nice crz, though this will probably affect fishing tourney :(
 
Lol love how anetheron is the most prominent realm in that picture on the announcement (its true though)

Hopefully we can add friends from other servs
 
nvm just saw that they will attach like 2 realms or more. no doubt my server will get connected with a spanish realm just for freaking luls

I've been playing since cata. WoW has lost over 4 million subscribers since then. I'd like too think if anything, rare mob/item/chest farming is easier these days with a large chunk of the wow playerbase quitting.

No one knows quite how its going to function exactly, however i think if Yasueh's addon is updated for 5.4 it might mean community growth. For example i play on MG, we might be grouped up with players from WrA as well as other RP servers. Anyhow, this is interesting for sure.

The amount of people leaving WoW doesn't really affect the difficulty of getting AGM imo. Since u usually just loose it to a random 90 just swinging by

Some Wpvp on EU like that one made on the USA last saturday would be very appreciated if the new enchants are out of control
 
BTW, if anybody is interested in what the trying to guess which realms they might be grouped with, US realm list by datacenter - Wowpedia is a good place to start (it's more up to date than the WoWWiki one).

I'm guessing some of the groupings will be similar to the CRZs. For instance, Anetheron and Blackwing Lair are currnently together at Darkmoon Island and other places because they share the same datacenter (NY) and server type (PvP). I'm wondering if they will keep the same pattern, or if they will group realm within a battlegroup. My guess is the former because it will allow for more equal population groupings, batllegroups will have less meaning than ever, and it's what they are already doing.
