Losing rolls before I even get to roll.

• I've had this happen quite a few times to me during dungeons, but it normally doesn't bug me too much because the items were not valuable.

Today I not only lost on Feet of the Lynx, but Recipe: Swiftness Potion in the same run (SFK both chests). But here's my problem: I never got a chance to roll yet.

Both items popped out of chests, and before I could even click need, the item was distributed to the winner. The winner also didn't have a loot roll number that I usually see the winner get.

The items were won by separate people. I'd really like some clarification on this.

Was a thread made a few weeks ago concerning the subject. Seems to be chests thst does it.

Oops very sorry about that then, but what about the chests causes this and how do I control it so I don't get screwed? =X

Can I get a link to the thread? I tried finding it but after 7 pages of searching with 'Chest' as the key word, I still don't see anything resembling my topic. Thanks in advance!

Someone had this happen with swiftness pot recipe. I think the person opened a ticket and got it sorted out that way.

Your point is very much appreciated, however I probably won't bother with the ticket.

I don't really wanna hassle over it, I just wanna know how it works so I can avoid it in the future. I definitely do not want to be begging a GM (specially as a f2p) every 5th run over something that is consistently happening.

I mean, even if I complain I didn't get to roll, it doesn't mean I deserved it more than the other 4 people. How does it 'work out?' Do they summon all 5 players during that instance and roll?

Open the chests when the run is over/the others are far away so only you can roll on the items inside, however as soon as people see a chest they tend to instantly open them but that results in that you cant roll b4 its already ended

Umm, if I'm getting this right, whoever opens the chest cannot roll for it? Is that right?

So the only time I should be opening a chest is when others are far away?

I've noticed it happen with regular loot rolls, and not just chests.

Several times I've needed on items and they go to people that have greeded the item; it does seem that f2p accounts are on the bottom of some unusual pile when regarding loot rolls.

This is the previous thread

Don't open the chests, let some one else do it. If the whole group skips the chest, wait till everyone has left the instance group and go back for it

Thanks a lot guys =) no wonder people seemed to skip easy to see chests. It's strange though since I don't believe it's completely consistent, but maybe my memory is a bit vague since I don't pay attention much to drops I don't want =P

Some clarification here: as Gogovo said, it happens to both chest-loot and normal mob-loot.
There are a few things to note which I have seen happening: if you yourself open a chest and then leave it before chosing need/greed/disenchant(if possible)/pass you can't roll on those items at all, the game doesn't recognize your roll at all. This doesn't seem to happen if someone else opens the chest. You also can't go back to open the chest (after it's been opened once by YOURSELF), it will usually result in the 'I can't loot this.' voice message together with 'You aren't allowed to open this.' (can't remember the exact words but it's along those lines).

But there's a key factor concerning the 'I was the only one that needed on this item, but someone else got it' case:
Someone in your group didn't chose their roll.
If even 1 person doesn't chose their loot roll, the group-roll fucks up and distributes loot at will, your loot window (you know, the small frame showing who rolled what and what number) will show that someone didn't chose their roll, mostly that you needed on it (if it was something you needed on) and it shows who 'won' the loot-roll even if they passed/greeded/whatever. This also shows in your chat messages respectively, I will try to get this happen and provide a screenshot of what I'm trying to show.

It even becomes this mess if everyone greeds/passes but one doesn't chose their roll.

My only advice would be to make a '/i Please finish your loot rolls. The game currently bugs in a way, that if not everyone chooses their loot rolls, said loot will be distributed at will.' macro and click it at the start of an instance.
