are mechbuilder's overalls BiS for any spec?

in terms of the overalls vs BoA robe, the argument for the overalls is +3 int for a loss of 5 stam and 1 crit. However this is not the only loss, an argument can be made for BoA cloak > parachute for casters in5.3, but in 5.4 this will certainly be the case with enchant scaling making the pvp power chant redundant. Thus the only reason a caster would take engineering is to equip the overalls

So by taking mechbuilder's overalls you lose an additional 9 crit by taking engineering + herb (whereas you could have herb + skin if you take the BoA robe)

Therefore, its really a gain of 3 int for a loss of 5 stam and 10 crit, -> are mechbuilder's BiS anymore?

    No, but neither is crit.
Point is, you can't say 3 int vs. 5 stam & 10 crit because engineering brings alot of other perks to the table.

sure the boots are good but I'm just saying the perks arent enough to keep it unless ur stacking crit.

The boots were just an example of other trait's you gain by having engineering. Not saying they are BiS or anything of that nature.
Engineering dosen't give you any passive bonuses, but it gives you alot of toys to play with. Therefore, trying to find out which profession is the better one by calculating stats, dosen't make sense.

I get the whole engineering bombs /stun/gimmick thing but im talking purely from a stat stand point and that skinning is generally regarded as the number 2 prof for most specs

Boots for caster for 10 hit and crit for hit capped and crit build. Also if you ever premade or plan on it. Depending on guild leaders sometimes alchemy pots or engineering bombs are not allowed most of time only healing pots and mana pots are allowed.

For pugging doesn't matter it's up to your playstyle.

Don't really need a full duration, just long enough to stun a rogue to get a fear off to bandage and get distance or to interrupt a healer or two during a flag return.

True but in PUG every guys can potentially break it :), still fun times incomin with triple incapacited on healers during the EFC even if the range require to be a bit in melee, i guess melee players will enjoy it, caster and healers a bit less cuz thoses bomb gonna put them in the worst position ever seen and with your glass canon gear less armor + the pug environment full of rogues and stuff you gonna die fast

I am pretty sure that most good twinks carry a lot of Iron Grenades when they do BGs.
