Potential Arena Tournament idea

So with the introduction of Cosmetic Items (Crown of Eternal Winter, etc), I had an idea regarding an Arena Tournament.

Once every couple of months we could have a server dedicated to holding a special Arena Tournament.
Over the course of 2 weeks (subject to change), players would create characters on this server, level them to 20, and compete in a 2v2 and 3v3 bracket.

Screenshots and team names would be used to keep track of the teams' progress throughout the bracket against other teams.

At the end of the Tournament, the top teams from each section would be awarded Cosmetic Items. These items are BoA and are automatically sent to every character on a battle.net account.

While it certainly is no Gladiator title, for the level 20 bracket it could be the next best thing.

To address this.

I just discussed the prospect of this arena idea with Bop and I like it, so we will both be hosting the first arena 'session' together. We have not decided whether it will be 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5, or when it will take place (more up to everyone else s interest level) but we will be giving helms (of their choice) to all the members of the victorious team.

This is considering there is enough interest, and if there is enough, I will make a new thread for the OFFICIAL arena information (date/time, server, teams and their members, rules).


Future sessions will be contingent on other 'sponsors' hosting. If one does, they would dictate what goes on (The rules, the server, the prizes, etc.)

I'm not sure if F2Ps can buy/use the helms, you may want to check that out first.

do 2v2 , 1 healer, 1 dps. Skype allowed (or vent etc).. -- 2v2 is better because if less people sign up than you wanted then you can still have a decent amount of games.

games should be filmed (optional), winner gets mention on TI and some sort of reward (for both players).. something along those lines would be mega cool.


However, if you did decide to go ahead with this then you need to be 100% f***ing sure its going to work. Don't want people joining and grinding looms then you decide to f*** it off because its not been an instant success.

idd 3s all the way but it depends on the quantity of people.. you would need a minimum of like 30 people for it to be fun tourny

Im no expert on this or anything but to my understanding, we could easily do this on a PTR server, then no one would have to grind gear or looms, ( besides EU players that dont already have a US toon) this way no gear would be considered unfair, because everyone could use their main toon and all gear would be accessible, this would also cut down on the time needed to get the event going, we could just sign up teams and then go, no time leveling, or gearing. If anything i said here is not true then please correct me because as i said I am no expert on these things.

tbh for this to actually work, seems like a lot of effort for a incredibly unbalanced bracket, I.E you wont get any good players involved as its pure RNG most games.
