Yep it's hard to real id que and test out the group / guild you are considering to play with.

what if someone has parental controls and their parents disabled real id/battletag

There are other ways to group up besides real id. But living with those restrictions in place which I don't think Laurasia is under would be

5.4 virtual realms, save your $30. On top of that, cross realm queuing > moving to a high pop server any day.
