Need Advice: Shadow Priest

Spriesta

Legend
Okay, I am going to start a Spriest twink once I finish my DK.
I was thinking about doing Lock or Mage, but ultimately I love Spriest because of the channeling spell that does dmg & slows them down (dumb-ass me can't remember the name). This is not because they're OP as apparently they were nerfed.

Anyways. Here's my gearing plan...

BoAs:
Head
Shoulders
Chest
Back
Weapon (either 2h staff or 1h + offhand - haven't decided yet)

Regular armor:
AGM x1
Insignia of the Alliance x1
Seal of Argas x2 Seal of Argas - Item - World of Warcraft
Necklace not decided yet.

Accessories:
Strong Anti-Venom (I make these on my own, so no limit here - Just in case CDs are still going)
I'll take Alchemy to make tons of mana potions, or I'll just buy tons of em.

Last part is that I am not sure if I want to level this char to 20, so F2Ps will duel me in Goldshire, or if I want a BG advantage and go 24 (but be limited because no 20 will duel me). I'll have to look more into upscaling, but ultimately I'd rather win BGs than win duels. Is upscaling compareable to a fully geared level 24 ?

Any replacement suggestions are allowed. I will not be going for Charged gear, and if I do it will ONLY be for 1. I'd rather have survivability than be fluffier but with slightly more damage.

You don't get Mind Blast and Devouring Plaque at 20. That is one of the main reasons 20 Spriests are bad. You could potentionally try 21 because you get those abilities then. But a lvl 20 Spriest p2p? No, don't do that.

one of the biggest strengths of shadow priests is shadowform, which requires lvl 24. if you wanna gimp your self, go ahead and play lvl 20 shadow priest. Only thing you can do as lvl 20 shadow priest is mindflay and shadow word: pain :D

Ah Whatgoesup, I forgot about that.
24 it is.

I really wish twinks weren't separated. It's not because I wanna be OP. perhaps I just wish twinking was more popular. I want to go 29 for my second DoT but queues would piss me off.

Tbh, I would roll Disc on 24. I rolled my 24 Priest with the intention of going Shadow, but, it is really, really boring. It's very monotone. Disc is a lot more fun to play in BG's and you're much more of a help. I went Disc aswell, great choise :)

My advice: make it disc or maybe even holy I dunno. We got spriests overloaded at least on eu, prob us too.

Well Im gonna link you mine for idea.. i'm still working on it. But i notice i have my gnomer all hit set on. Lots of spirit for hit..

So my armory is about as useless as this post.. lol

Exchange head item for boa, I use Boa mace and witch finger off hand. Rune of perfection, remove and add boa CC trinket...it will get you started in right direction. I'm debating 20 shadow power of 16 sp for gloves..cause 16sp means stronger shields and bigger heal..

I've rolled Spriest before so I'm familiar with BiS, but NOT with BoAs. I am mainly curious if there's any BoAs that are actually not as good as non-BoA items. That said, I highly doubt there is and this thread is kinda dumb.

Now as far as spec goes, I keep hearing people say there's too many spriests and such. I am tempted to roll Disc, as I love Disc, but unfortunately I am not truly willing to face the CCbomb every time I try to heal. Sure, I get it occasionally as Shadow, but it's not fun when you don't have enough racials or trinkets to take care of your full and complete silence while you watch your teammates die.
If I were rolling another healer, such as Hpally I might because I think they generally have more utility as they have instant casts etc. 24 disc priest simply doesn't have enough spells to be productive once CCbombed (I say CC as in 'crowd casting' and 'cancel casting' and the general silencing the other players do).

I'd roll Holy, but I'd only really want to do that if I had atonement. Holy would be far worst than disc. So I've concluded I'll stick spriest based on the level bracket I'm aiming for. I'd love to do a different bracket, but 20-24 is the most active and that is literally the only reason I'm going for it.

BUT I want to make sure I set the right goals before I commit to dungeon farming questing etc.
So here's my final thoughts on what i'll do.

Head: Tattered Dreadmist Mask - Item - World of Warcraft (have it)
Neck: Overlord's Favor - Game Guide - World of Warcraft
Back: Ancient Bloodmoon Cloak - Item - World of Warcraft (have it)
Shoulder: Tattered Dreadmist Mantle - Item - World of Warcraft (will have this by Sunday)
Chest: Tattered Dreadmist Robe - Item - World of Warcraft (will have this tonight)
Legs: Tattered Dreadmist Leggings - Item - World of Warcraft (dependent on guild achievement) - I might find a guild and rep-farm for this though instead if it's quicker.
Wrists: Spidertank Oilrag - Item - World of Warcraft
Ring x2: Seal of Argas - Item - World of Warcraft
Belt: Girdle of Nobility - Item - World of Warcraft
Boots: Acidic Walkers - Item - World of Warcraft
Gloves: Serpent Gloves - Item - World of Warcraft
Weapon: Grand Staff of Jordan - Game Guide - World of Warcraft (will have this next week)

Doesn't s priest get hit from spirit? I'd not use staff of jordan but the justice one and if ur not hitcapped go with hit enchant on feet. I Think there is another 1h + offhand combo that is better than jordan aswell but can't remember atm. The pvp power from para cloak and int from engi head is debatable too. Pvp def is useless now.

I didn't realize that PvP power is useless! Hmm, can you explain that to me? This is news to me.
If that is the case, I will either go with 2H PvE staff for extra stats, OR use my 1H mace with a loom 1H offhand.

As far as the Profession stuff goes, this model is simply my basis to go off of. The non-boa stuff I listed is pretty easy to get in my opinion, so I don't think it'll be an issue to get it and then replace it shortly after.

I do plan on gearing this Full BoA / BiS, but I also want to grab gear for BiS WITHOUT BoAs so I can play around without having that BoA advantage.
