Is it possible to farm the Mantid Artifacts on a 85? I did alot of archaeology in Pandaria got 21 Restored Artifacts + made a Spear of Xuen
and Anatomical Dummy and got not a single Mantid Fragment :S
 
You have to go the special Mantid digsites in Pandaria in order to get to Mantid fragments. The only place however where you can find these digsites is in Towlong Steppes and Dread Wastes

this does not work on any toon below 90.
you cannot gain reputation with lorewalkers unless you are 90 i have tryed on my warrior and i just ended up infuriated over the wasted time.

This is a damn lie. Get exalted on a 90 for the bonus rep, then the achievements give reputation.

Besides, it's all of 30 minutes. How much time do you not have that makes this a waste?

I boosted the lvl 10 twink to (almost) exalted in 5.1, but he forgot the extra rep he needed so he couldn't finish. But he finished in 5.2 with the new scrolls on Isle of Something. I'll go see later today if I can get some rep on my lvl 1 twink.
 
Well, one thing I can say is that after getting exalted, it didn't gain me much. The mantid resonators are bugged (either intentionally or otherwise) in that they completely remove your digsites in pandaria, so you can't get mantid rares anyway.

I'll try in 5.3, but safe to say for now you can't get them without a 90. Pity, seems strange why Blizzard would go to such lengths, especially since 70s can farm their own stuff.

Ah well.

Could it be that Mantid dig sites require you be level 90 (or at least higher than 85)? Much like regular Pandaria dig sites require that you be at least level 85 before they begin to show up.

That would at least explain why you don't see any digsites at all now, with Mantid sites being forced to show, but cannot due to to a character level issue.

Possible, I guess similar reasons for tol'vir not showing up for 70s. But I'm sure that was a result of not being able to train above 450, rather than level.

Either way, looks like I'm gonna have to level a horde 90 xD
 
That Mantid thing from Lorewalkers is bugged as hell. You can actually use it right now to force spawn Tol'vir digsites and farm the shit out of that mount. You can get the Mantid digsiters as an 85, Camhael got the gun on his 85 hunter by doing digsites on his hunter iirc. And yeah, the only thing you gain from Lorewalkers is the Tabard, which is pretty cool for lowbie twinks :)

Well atm I'm getting literally zero pandaria digsites with the mantid beacon, perhaps if I delete it they'll spawn as mantid or something. It's really freaking odd.

That relocator works only once right? I remember when I was farming the 1h wep on my 90 I bought it once, got all digsites there, did all the digsites, flew back, deleted relocator, bought it again and I repeated that untill I got the rare.

I'm referring to this: Mantid Artifact Sonic Locator - Item - World of Warcraft

I bought that, and it literally removed any pandaria digsites I had, and didn't generate any mantid ones (Lorewalker's Lodestone - Item - World of Warcraft doesn't function because of it)
