Ok, I got a text from an old friend telling me that 24s are where it's at now. He's also telling me that the F2P 20s scale to 24 in a battleground. Is that right? When did that happen? Does this make this bracket better now?

That said, are 24s like the 19s of old now? No, not the Cata 19s, the wotlk and earlier 19s. He said it felt like vanilla again, but I can't see that.

I am thinking about reinstalling to play a couple times a week. The only problem is that I only have a couple 24s, a naked druid since I took all his feral,resto, and boom BoAs over to BH when I built my Monk when MOP dropped. I have a hunter that was pretty pimped out with BiS items, but I don't play hunter. :) And I have a lock on horde and alliance, the horde lock is my old grandfathered 19. I think I might have played one WSG after MOP hit on him. Are locks busted or somewhat viable these days.

What would I need to farm for this guy? Is he worth retrofitting or should I bring a priest or pally to 24?

That is not what I am asking. I am asking if it's more competitive than it was in Cata. Are you saying that the level scaling doesn't make that much of a difference?

I mean, it has made an impact, but there isn't parity such as would be had in any other twink bracket.
 
It's not like the 19 bracket of old. Though you will get bg pops 24/7 which is nice.

Warlocks are good, though i feel like destro is the best specc.

I'm not an expert at gear but you should pick up Thaalia's Slippers - Item - World of Warcraft and probably boa legs.

I see. Ok. I am guessing 19s are still broke as duck right? 29s probably have to have games arranged on a certain night. 39s then?

I will require pity. I haven't played anything in quite some time, except minecraft on my son's server once a week or so.

On average, 19s games have actually risen in quality the last few months. There are less 5 mans running around, and more parity between factions. If you're returning for the 20-24 bracket, I'd at least give 19s a try as well.

I suppose I could try 19s, but I am not happy with any of my 19s. I would probably have to roll a new one. I have a naked druid abandoned on a server without any other toons. She does have some GF gear, but not worth the effort I assume. Then the new 19s I rolled right before MOP... a priest, a lock, and a monk.

Besides 19s and 20-24, what bracket has the most activity?

All those twinks you listed, plus druid, their classes are in a pretty good place right now.

As for other twink brackets, no other low level bracket pops with regularity - would have to do 70s or 85s for frequent pops in another bracket.
 
I have both faction 84's and a 24.

24's have games 24/7 and are probably the most active I've seen since pre x-sever BG's
84's are WotLK'd capped 80's and MoP 84's. My DK has 3 to 4 times normal health pool of a well geared 80. Unfortunately, BG times are 20-30 minutes. I recommend having Mining as a profession and get a port to pandaria to farm Ghost Ore while waiting.
 
Alliance has alot better games than Horde. I've never come across a faceroll on ally for weeks. Definitely recommend playing ally over horde any day. I also find games very late at night to more competitive.

By "19s of old" I assume they are speaking in terms of farming the lowbies. There are some competitive games but usually only when guilds group up. Horde is faceroll unless Pony Slaystation are queueing :) so I recommend playing Alliance for better quality of games if that's what you're after.

IMO - you would work hard to get a toon BiS, play a couple of BGs and then remember why you quit.

You are probably right, but you forgot one step... level BIS toon, then quit again. :)
