80 warrior questions

  • Hey all;

I've recently gotten an 80 mage & warrior, the warrior I will be working on first.

I was browsing through stickies to get ideas, and I couldn't help but notice that all warriors are fury, and the only warrior on the Soloing thread is Xipelol, who is also fury.

SO, before I invest too much time into this ..
I'm really banking on a prot warrior. (Dat bulwark <3).
Is there a specific reason that warriors aren't able to solo content?
--> Beyond, perhaps, no warriors interested.

Is there not a 1h tanking weapon that is 409?

    Thanks for your time,
    Genocist

Edit: Since I'm diehard for prot, would it be better to head to 85?

There is no ilvl 409 tanking weapon sadly.
The main reason why warriors aren't too good in solo'ing stuff (afaik) is that, especially for prot warriors, it is hard to get avoidance cap. Also, due to the fairly low health pools, second wind isn't very effective. While all the other tank classes can heal, warriors cannot. Atleast, in a way sufficient enough to solo. It is however much easier to get avoidance cap as a fury warrior due to the insane strength you get from 2x Bjam's. But then again from strength you get parry, and parry is only good for melee attacks, so a magic heavy boss will easily kill you. Also fury is better for solo'ing due to the very nice damage output, something prot definiatly lacks.

I am not 100% sure if this correct, but I think it is.

    Hope this helps!

It is along the lines of what I was thinking. Too bad.

Looks like I'll be heading to 85 :C

Lack of warrior soloing is unrelated to gear, it's more to the lack of shield barrier. That spell alone makes soloing (beyond super-easy content that won't challenge a 100k hp tank) possible. It's learnt at 81, so warriors hit a spot of bad luck there.

As for DPS, I doubt a fury warrior would compete against prot with some of the available vengeance numbers (they'd probably do rather well if you were 2manning with a hybrid)

    Ahh, that makes sense.

Thanks for your input, I'm surely off to 85 now.

Hey. With buffs I can easily obtain avoidance cap inFury, because of how strenght gives parry rating. I have to reforge to dodge though which makes me lose a considerable amount of DPS. In DPS gear with optimal reforges I still have around 95% avoidance, even more fully buffed.

For tanking I wouldnt recommend warriors but the challenge in itself is what I find fun. At the moment I'm testing some 10man solos, but since my own computer is broken and thus at the shop, I'm gonna wait for my genuine attempts untill I can propperly fraps it etc :)
    Second Wind is so OP.

But seriousy though, Fury is so fun! :D Bjam's are costy though :(

And yeah. Im tanking and soloing as fury :)
