60 mage

  • So, I'm creating a mage on a 3.3.5 server.

Thus, for the most part, I have access to all gear with enough voting.
What I'm curious about after examining a few armories :

is T3 better for the stats alone? Or am I better off using some pieces of t2/t1 for set effects? Or just going for gems altogether ( not available till down the road, gems are super expensive here)?

    Thanks!

I welcome any other insight you may possess.

Are you looking at gem gear or not? PvP or Raiding? You also said you had access to T3; does this include other Naxx gear as well?

Yes, most all Naxx gear is available.

I'm doing it mainly for the purpose of ganking in Northrend.
There isn't enough population to raid, but there are a tooooon of leveling. (Think hellfire portal, everywhere).

I would take gem gear, but for the moment, I don't have the funding to gem - so I'm starting with gemless gear so I can slowly work up a gold base (not playing at the moment other than to vote).

Ok, I don't exactly remember all the stats on gear from that patch, but here's what I'd go with for ganking (I'm assuming you're ganking people in your level range so you don't have a stack hit ratiing):

    Frostfire Circlet
    Gem of Trapped Innocents
    Rime Covered Mantle
    Cloak of the Necropolis
    Frostfire Robe
    Soul Harvester's Bindings
    Dark Storm Gauntlets
    Eyestalk Waistcord
    Leggings of Polarity
    Frostfire Sandals
    Frostfire Ring
    Ring of the Fallen God
    The Restrained Essence of Sapphiron
    Neltharion's Tear
    Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
    Doomfinger

This setup is going to be a little light on Stamina, but it's maximizing crit and damage.
