So when a comedian is doing his job, entertaining his audiences by mocking them, maybe a little crowd work or what have you, he should be ashamed for that? It's entertainment, it's fun, and it's what people want. Give it a rest, Jack.
 
It's somewhat different when his audience doesn't realize they are being mocked. Gliiese made it clear to everyone in the "best hunter" thread, but was threatened with a ban afterwards. Here's the quote:

"Also Dory why do you make these pointless polls all the time? You know it always ends the same way, and your lukewarm passive-aggressive insulting of the people that aren't Pizza isn't funny and will never be funny. Your Pizza nut-hugging infatuation could pass for a script for the sequel to Brokeback Mountain.

Good thing you have a WT moderator on your side eh? Anyone with 3rd grade-level reading comprehension can see how "positive" your polls are. You take tepid shots at anyone who isn't Pizza on your lists and think you're just the most clever guy."

Please, these are fun threads where all twinks alike have the chance to put in their *2 cents* of why they want to vote for who they think is best. I for one, am interested in who the community thinks is the *best* of each class. It's fascinating to see the hard numbers when it's all over. The *descriptions* of each players are just there to give people more of an idea of who they're voting for. They're not there to bash said person, perse. Call me a Benedict Arnold, but I've grown to like Dory's threads because he gives the truth and nothing but it.

We all have fun nominating the next best twink, why can't you?
 
Aside from my obvious concerns with the way Dory goes about it, let me humor you and your interest in these threads:
If you look at the votes for some of the players, it's several 0-5 post count accounts... Definitely an accurate representation of the best when they can stack the votes in their favor for such a meaningless feat.

Okay, so your issue isn't Dory's thread so much as it is the *broken* system that polls operate on? Maybe you give opinions on how the poll system could be fixed instead of flaming people, giving people a hard time? What would you do if I barged into your thread: cursing, calling names, and bashing people with rl insults? Not so fun now that the tables are turned now, huh?

I was never not chill. In fact, I feel like I came off quite calm with a solid argument that needed to be made. Just because you don't like the argument, you throw a whole bunch of words in my mouth. I'm sorry that I'm not a blind follower like you and want to actually make a problem with this community apparent. You seem like the guy that needs to chill.

And honestly, I can care less about "who's best." But I do care about the integrity of the players and this community, which has been on a steady decline recently.

Please worry about your own integrity before you question that of others. All I see from you is snide comments and the production of videos (some in decidedly bad taste) mocking other community members.

On the contrary, you came into this thread spitting hateful words and barking orders like some drill sergeant. Are you a drill sergeant? Anyway, the only thing that comes out of your malicious posts is negativity that spreads like a virus. People feed off that and it snowballs into something big. Do you want TI to turn into a giant flamefest? I know I sure don't so cut it out.

Concerning a number of reports: I'm not going to delete the argument on page 8 for now, nor am I going to lock this thread. I want to explain my reasoning and for people being able see what I'm talking about. However, I'd like for everyone to continue staying on topic from now on. Send me a PM if you have a comment.




First, I personally dislike all the "best" polls 19s seem rife with, but as they generate the most interest and conversation, it seems as if they're a tradition that's necessary to this bracket. So to those that also dislike them severely; you aren't forced to read this like I am, so be glad, and don't read. :)




Second, while including just one EU person and short, biased descriptions isn't scientific statistics, this is a game forum poll. It's just a clever crowd managing mechanism to draw all users in this section into commenting, including those from EU. The clever descriptions as well, varying between amusing and insulting depending on the reader, are also an interest-generating tool. The mild controversy draws users to post and is a legitimate setup for a poll the author wants to keep bumped.


If one player description steps over the line, or a post does, please report it, explaining your reasoning and what part you consider offensive. Not all moderators know this bracket (*raises hands*) so I have no idea which part you find insulting, as about 99.5 % of everything posted in this section seems insulting to me. I'm exaggerating, but the point is I can't really always differentiate the banter you all want to read from insults.




Third, please don't threaten other users with bans. Even if you've read the CoC and think they might get banned, that is not acceptable in my opinion. If you want to warn them out of altruistic reasons, PM them.
