19 Priest videos

Any good priest videos out there? I am having a really hard time understanding the 19 priest play style... Thanks in advance!

I'm working on a video right now but it's a while in the making. Basically what they said ^ (keep bubbles up/bars topped). I am especially fond of going offensive on a priest... they can be very deadly. Keeping bubbles up all the time will allow you to do this. I'm a big advocate for MC, which I use to CC healers when my teammates are capped and bubbled. If there are no healers in the area, and your teammates are capped/bubbled, go for the holy fire/penance combo on the kill target. Utilize your fears as effectively as possible by getting 2-3 people caught in them if possible.

new priest often use mc or offensive spells and forget about healing so for starter just focus on healing & shielding your group, try to preheal effectively etc ull learn by time

And remember to DoT stealthers when you see them, but if you play with good rogues/mages try not to DoT everything as it will make sheeping and sapping hard :)

Use penance on an enemy/ally when they're about to LoS/range you and it will still go through all the way.

I have a macro for getting stealthies out if you'd like. I'll pm it to you if you're interested.

Honestly there was a lot of obvious answers here. It is true though, a lot of new priests neglect to heal and just play offense. Its really disgusting to watch.

As a priest you should be playing as a strategist. Look at the map, how many stacks, does d need more d healers? Are the d healers reliable? Do they have 6 rogues or a nasty countercomp to your d? Sometimes I leave a GOOD fc against a bad team alone on d, because its under 4 stacks and they manage fine(because they can kite).

How many healers are on offense? I like playing offense but never get to because there are 3 lack lustre healers on o, not doing their job, not keeping anything up. If you're on o, you better be doing this. Honestly, a safe way to calculate where you should be if you can't look at the comps and know is:
1 healer = 1 healer d
2 healer = 2 healers d or 1 on o 1 on d - depends on comp.
3 healers = 2 healers d, 1 o.
4 healers 3 healers d 1 o.
5 healers 3 healers d, 1 mid, 1 o. sometimes 4 healers d, 1 o (again depends on team)

With a good healer, offense should be a solo job.

Going mid at the start and through periodic parts of the game(usually before escorting flag across field or if its tactical to hold their team in mid) is sometimes useful. Why is this good for you to do? Because at times you are the only thing that will keep your team alive in mid! Your team sitting in gy is not good, and your team getting chopped in 2s or 3s going across mid is not good. Sometimes by supporting your team, you can hold the other team in a bad position while your FC runs across and smells the flowers on the way.

Predict damage, there is less place for this in MOP, but against good teams with good boomkins / destro locks, the burst can be quite insane. Mid healing is probably my favourite thing to do, but rarely are there teams with damage that doesn't put me to sleep lol.

Ferals, either keep track of their combo points, or keep yourself topped off even if that means standing in one place spamming heals. Only move after ferocious bite, or when your fears are up. Pretty sure they can shift roots, I still use psyfiend in wsg as personal preference. PEEL THEM OFF YOUR FC AT HIGH STACKS. When you have no more CC's, SPAM HEALS and juke.

Know where the rogues are, or if you don't know where they are. Sometimes you can run into someone to solo them, but probably not if theres a rogue hanging around lol. Don't be lazy and run down mid at 600 hp because you're too lazy to heal up, you will be embarassed when that rogue ambushes you and one shots you.

Juke, juke juke. Even if a mage is LOS and blinks to cs you, you can STILL juke that. Its all about anticipating other moves. An addon that tracks their CDs is a really good idea to help manage this.

Use LOS and range to dodge sheeps, dodge hojs, keep track of HOJ range, if a paladin is suddenly running towards you, likely they are hojing you. If you are playing teammates, call for peel, or drop a psyfiend while kiting. Or eat that hoj with your fc topped off, or trinket it. One thing I always try to work on.

Speaking of range. Sit back. Your dps should be sitting far away from their team, and you should be sitting like, 20 - 30 yards from that. You shouldn't be in range for their team to sheep you in mid, unless they blink towards you. Kind of hard to do now, everyone just mongoloids on top of each other nowadays.

Lot of tips as a priest I could give honestly, or for game play in general. Even though I don't really play competitively at the moment. If you have questions for me feel free to PM me and if you'd like to discuss anything I am also willing to give you my RID.

Priest is all about being a support player. That means you need to look at the game and know exactly where you need to be in order to turn the game around.

Really useful post, about the AddOn for stealthers I use
#showtooltip (spellname, most likely Shadow Word: Pain)/targetenemy [harm][nodead]
/targetenemy [noharm][dead]
/cast (spellname)

my eyes.....
lol your eyes are weak, that was a fine post

it was if youd like to waste your afternoon reading a post about basic priest things
"wasted" 3 min, and since I am just w8ing in wsg queue atm its no big deal at all...

Furthermore I read it, to help the poster, if Twiggi posted something that was either false or needed elaboration, I could have pointed it out, to save the poster from getting confusd by twisted facts

Excuse me for derailing the post a lil' bit, but, how do you good priests end a pug on the boards? I've been SS'ing every game I end, and I average 3.5 Kbs, 0.33(repeating) deaths, 25 HKs, 14.5k Damage and 9k healing. I'm able to keep people up with bubble, so I spend pretty much all of my time running, bubbling, smiting, bursting and healing.

Spend less time looking at the boards and more learning to play. Most people who go around flaunting top healing or w/e are awful.

The OP asked for help to understand priest basics, the post was perfectly fine.

you are a bit mistaken

theres a difference between reading a wall of text and watching a movie but thanks for your attempts in providing useful information

Not everyone is unable to read a post with more than 10 words.

Also it wasn't a wall of text.

I got a bad feeling that Hurxx is a bit of a hot head.
